Most combined points in NCAA Football Game

Post by Anonymous »

I asked this in an earlier thread, but I found the answer.

Most points in a college football game, was set in Div-III. On Oct, 25, 2003, Coe College beat Cornell College, 66-63, combining for 129 points.

With that said. BG and Boise culd easily score in about 2 minutes of clock time per drive, with kickoffs and soft, each time could get 3 possesions per quarter. If they would score a TD each possesion, each team could possibly get 3 TDs per quarter or 12 TDs for the game.

Final Score and set a new NCAA record: BG 85 Boise 84, as BG goes for a 2 pt. conversion with no time left on the clock.

Georgia Tech 222, Cumberland 0.

That said, I'm figuring '72 was referring to the modern record.

Incidentally, the biggest scoring games involving MAC teams are probably:

2001: Marshall 64, East Carolina 61 (2OT) (GMAC Bowl)
2004: Eastern Michigan 63, Central Michigan 58 (4OT) (at Ford Field)

The Georgia Tech v. Cumberland game was in 1916 (I think). The NCAA was established around 1910 (it went under a different name for a few years before 1910). It is possible that one or both of those teams were not members of the NCAA in 1916.

Cornell College- that's my alma mater!!!

Coe is our arch-rival and is where Marv Levy went to college. The Coe-Cornell rivalry is the oldest, continuous rivalry west of the Mississippi.

Also, BG blanked Findlay in the 1910s 151-0.

Thank BT! I guess my internet source was not entirely accurate but what do you expect from Cornell College right? Anyways, maybe the BG - BSU game will set the modern day record.

One of my reporters did a great "look back" story on that game while I was at BG. Wish I could remember more of the particulars, but my age is catching up with me ... or maybe it's past me. I can't recall...
