I was also told that they already have the plans to add a second level for additional seating and sky boxes to the east stands but of course money is an obstacle right now. I look for that project to be out at least 5 years depending on if the program can maintain the currect level of success and if another monied alum steps up.

compared to NIU's building the SEBO looks chincey and trashy. Why don't we for once build a non-square building that is aesthetically pleasing.

Can someone post a picture of the two buildings side by side?

and provide a link to the latest SEBO plans?

I wouldn't say the SEBO looks trashy at all, I actually think it looks pretty cool myself. But that's just my opinion. I would agree they look very different from one another, there's no doubt about that. But I'll wait to make any more judgement on what they "look" like until after they are built.

I will say this much though, as much as I love our videoboard, it's too small. The one we have would have been a nice size for say, Anderson Arena, but not Perrry Stadium. Don't get me wrong, I love having one, but since we went out and got one, we should have just spent the money on a larger one. Again, just my opinion (but I know I am not alone on this one).

I can understand if you don't like the style, but it certainly doesn't look trashy.

Sorry, but I think some of these posts are ridiculous.

The Sebo will be a first class building.

My understanding is that NIU's building will be bigger, but a large amount of space will be devoted to both home and visitor locker rooms. The BG locker rooms will continue to be in the East side of the Doyt. I have heard that there are plans to enlarge the locker rooms at BG, especially the home locker rooms. Once the Sebo is completed, additional space in the East side of the Doyt will be freed up for other purposes.

Both BG and NIU are to be congratulated for these new buildings. Architecturally, NIU's building will be more "conventional". I suspect that the more "modern" design of the Sebo will be extended to future renovations of the Doyt.

As far as the videoboard is concerned, my recollection is that it is 36' x 36', pretty much the same as Miami's new videoboard. Maybe someone can confirm this.

I like the Sebo. I think it ties the Doyt together. It gives you a focal point that isn't the two squat grandstands. It will be a top notch building, and it will help improve BG's overall program. I like it a lot. I think the modern thing works for BG. NIU's endzone building looks good for Huskie Stadium. They design these buildings to be what the U wants. They don't just say, "Oh, here's your new building's designs, and you got no input, so deal with it. You want a building for 7.5 mil, this is what you get."

SEBO will actually be attached to the East stands where as NIU's building is pretty much stand alone. I image there is a premium for combining the structures.

I agree that comparisons are out of line in this regard.

I like the uniqueness of SEBO: The built-in stands, the fact it connects to the east side of the Doyt, the large amount of window space. Since we like to complain on this board, the one thing I do not like is that weird part of the roof that extends from the east side. I think SEBO would look better without that thing.

Well, that can be fixed easily... hope no one has a cubical or an office in that area... they are losing their roof.

I can't figure out how to copy the N. Illinois picture. I guess what i really like about theres is the circular flow with the field and the balcony that extends. Add that and I am happy.

It's the Journey... wrote:Thats a nice building. Has anyone noticed how we here at BGSU seem to do things on a minimum level. We paid as much as Miami for our scoreboard and it is quite a bit smaller. The SEBO center will be 3 floors and cost 7.5 million I believe. NIU is putting up a new building that is only 2 floors and they are spending 9.5 million on it. It just seems that we are getting less with the money we are spending than other schools are. Maybe it is just me, and I don't want to sound unappreciative of what we are getting because it is leaps and bounds above what we had. I guess this is just like my golf game: foreward progress.
Seriously Matt, can you ever find any good in anything that BG does anymore?

Since the part of the roof that extends from the east side (OF THE MAIN STRUCTURE!) is above air, I doubt that it is above any cubicals or offices. Although, since SEBO does have a futuristic look, maybe it does have invisible work spaces.

If we were to have AZZ.com awards there would be a toss-up betwix "It's the Journey" and "Germainfitch1" for the "Grass is truly greener"* award.

*It used to be called the "P!ss and Moan" award but that award was trade-marked by the UCF fans.
