Me and the family are planning on a weekend for this affair...probably at least 5 of us. Not sure on ticketing arrangements yet though...probably just by GA when we get there.

Yea I'm going

Post by RobbyFalcon »

Rob Ervin here, class of '89.

I work with a dude who went to BSU, so we're going. We went two years ago and the Cards fans couldn't have been nicer. I was wearing an orange BGSU shirt and the tailgaters still offered me all the hot dogs, whiskey and beer a falcon could want. We even crashed an official Alumni breakfast. I was the only orange shirt in a sea of red. It was obvious I didn't belong there but was given a cup of coffee nonetheless.

We're going up Friday to visit the Chug (sorta like their Howard's only not as dirty). We stay at the Best Western that's only a couple of blocks away from the stadium. We had a great time a couple of years ago and we're looking forward to this year.

If you see me, say hey.

Anyone know the drive time firsthand? I am assuming 2 hours. . .
I don't know the best way to get across to I-69 from BG (I assume heading south on 75 to US 30 and across), but it takes me about 3 hours to get from my folks place in Perrysburg Twp to Indy, going around 475 to 24 and down 69. To Muncie is probably about 2 or 2:15 that way.

Two others could potentially join us.

UK- add us to your count and see if it works out.
DD, I'll count you in and we will see if we get to the magic 25 number. If we can't, I'll likely just order my tickets within the month. I'll let you know either way.

Dayon, you don't have a graphic for Man Utd in your collection. I'll send one over to you this weekend :-)

All 4 Freaks will be present and accounted. I am thinking it's roughly a 3-4 hour drive from Akron to Muncie, give or take a few minutes. My bud Mark and I were there in 2003 in later Nov and the weather was awesome! 60's and sunny. The Stadium is smaller and close, not laid out like the Doyt. Plenty of good seats on the visitor side for the Falcon Force to take over.

We will be heading out around 9-9:30, checking in to the Days Inn on Everbrook Lane and then heading over to the stadium around 2. I booked a room for $54.00. 7 pm CST kickoff. We bought our game tickets ahead of time when we renewed our season tix...I figured we could wait to buy Buffalo and Kent tickets.

It will be Mrs and Mr Freak's 11th Anniversary that day. She truly is the ultimate wife. :D She will be receiving a very fine piece of jewelry during the game.

Technically, its *EST*, but all that's about to change come April!!!

Regardless, it's an hour behind Ohio (and Kentucky, I think, right?) The downside is losing the hour on the way home, the tremendous upside is that extra hour of tailgating!

One thing I haven't seen mentioned as well, is that tickets purchased through our office are credited to us. Not sure what kind of proceeds that entitles us too, but what it does do is help show we have a road following which is important stat for bowl organizers. That is the main reason that one team that just left the MAC kept getting bowls when they didn't win it all.

Freak...I made reservations at the same joint...but looking at the hotel info now it appears that they don't have a swimming pool...which is a must for my kids since we are staying Friday night too, so we may be switching. :(

Also Freak...you may want to revise your 3-4 hour drive time. Mapquest route from Toledo says 3.5 hours...although I would go a different way than they say...Mapquest puts the drive time from Akron to Muncie at 4.5 hours since you can take a more direct route than I.

DD and Kdog,

We aren't even close to the magic 25 number needed for the group discount. So I'm going to go ahead and order my tickets for the BSU game.

Thanks Tom. I figured that a bit wrong. I can take I 70 to Indiana and then up to Muncie on Rt 35. Looks like 4 hours, 35 minutes on Mapquest.com.

You gonna order thru BGSU and sit with falcon fans or order through BSU and create a falcon section in decent seats?

We'll definitely need to meet up pregame. . .

I'm going to order thru BG's ticket office, since I also have a number of other games to order. Plus, if BG gets a little kickback from the tickets in terms of money or fan travel numbers to away games, then I guess I should try to support the cause by buying them through BG. And yes, we definitely have to throw a few back together in Muncie. Are you going to stay the evening because then we could drink a few postgame too?
