Like Jacobs said, it isn't all about football. Why in the world would the Big East want to get rid of teams they just added and/or teams that are located on the east coast? Also, UConn crushed Toledo (although Toledo had some key injuries) in the Motor City Bowl. So how is UConn worse than MAC teams? If UConn is crap, the MAC is in trouble. Plus, UConn is a fast rising program and it is surrounded by incredible excitement and expectations. USF has had a football program for only 7 or so years. It went from nonexistence to BCS in 7 years! That isn't the type of program one boots from a conference. Also, it wasn't that long ago when USF beat BG.BGSUFootballFan wrote:NY-BG-FAN wrote:What crap teams exactly? Can you justify 4 of the 8 schools in the Big East not belonging there to make way for the 4 MAC teams you mentioned?BGSUFootballFan wrote:i think we could get a ton more respect if we were "BCS" affiliated... wouldnt it be nice to see the Big East remove some of their crap teams, and take BG,Miami, UT,and NIU
well getting rid of 2 and adding 4 would make a nice number at 10, the only good teams are UL and Pitt now... then a huge drop off to WVU and Quse... then another huge drop off to UConn, Rut, USF, and Cinny, if you made me replace 4 for 4, id take Miami for Rutgers, BG for UConn, NIU for USF, and Toledo for Cinncy, wouldnt that make a MUCH better conf??
Then, of course, we have the fact that UConn is a national power in men's and women's basketball and soccer and that, I think, USF is very good in softball and baseball. Cincy, of course, is a consistent top 25 team in men's hoops and is hardly "crap" in football. Rutgers has a top quality women's hoops team and has show improvement in both men's basketball and football.
In short, the reasons against your suggestion are countless. In the future, the Big East might add teams, but it isn't going to be removing teams.
