Player(s) the older folks will recognize

Post by Metz »

So I found some old Falcon pics today and decided to test some of you older people on your history! I'll post a few in this thread before it's over but I figured I'd just start with one guy. Can anyone name the player below?

That's David Jenkins, one of the best defenders we ever had. I was thinking (I don't know why) the other day about the game in the MAC tourney where Jenkins went home to visit his sick mother in Warren, drove his car into an icy ditch on the way back. Back then, it was before cell phones, so he didn't have any way to tell people where he was, As the game started, he was just missing. We played poorly. Then, as the team was warming up for the second half, he comes out of the tunnel, much uproar, and we rallied to win.

Yeah, I remember that game when that happened.

Jenkins was discussed as a possible 1st round draft choice when he was here. He was in the same class as Daniels and McLeod.

My mother has saved tons of old programs. I should scan in pictures and post them here.

That is Jeff Montgomery, not Faine. Played with Cornelius Cash, and Skip Howard for Coach Pat Haley.
