Last year there were plenty of breakdowns in the secondary when the safties didn't do their job correctly. Jordan has made some great plays at BG and given up some big plays. If there is one guy I want to see have a GREAT SR season, it's Jordan.

I'm with hammb that I would love to eat crow about Jordan. I'm with you, too, that if there's one guy I want to have a banner senior year, it's Jelani Jordan. I hope he shuts me, hammb and his other critics here up in the first week and doesn't let up until our Jan. 1 bowl victory.

JJ is in a position to do that or totally flame out this year. Patten is gone. Keon is gone. Carswell is gone. He is the man in the secondary.
You're right, '87. This is Jordan's year. He is the man and I really hope he comes thru with flying colors. Hopefully, New DC Lovett will have some things worked out to put him and the whole defense in position to dominate.

I just don't like how we flame some of our own players around here especially when it happens over and over. It is not the place to specifically redicule players over and over again. I would like to say none of these guys read the boards but it is probably not the case. I expect JJ to have a really good year this season.

Truthfully, I don't know that Jelani has been torched any more frequently than Patton or Newsom were in their careers. He's given up some plays, but there isn't a DB in our program who hasn't.

Giving up the long ball has been a problem for our defense throughout the post Blackney era.

That is pretty much what I am trying to say. It seems like he gets absolutely no credit for the good plays he makes and drilled for his mistakes. When you think about it, he really has not been burned that many times, they just happened to come in games that everyone remembers because we lost. He certainly was not the only reason we lost to UT last year and to Miami in 03. JP and KN took a beating too.

This thread has already drifted too far off topic for too long. I'll stand by my statements on Jordan and also stand by my most sincere desire for him to have an awesome '05 campaign.

With the type of defense BG plays, a lot of the times you think the DB gets beat, it's actually the Safety. Of course, there are times whel Jelani and Terrill are going to get beat, it happens to every DB, but trust me, a lot of what looks bad on them was Keon and/or TJ's fault.
