Thanks for the inside info and for the article about Fields. Too bad Jordan didn't win, but like you said, they ALL should get an award in that catagory!!

THANKS AGAIN!

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

ESPN Publishes Winners

I guess there is really no way to keep the winners secret until Sunday.

Are you kidding!??!? What if it goes long and cuts into the 4,312th World Series of Poker rerun!?!?! Or worse, it cuts into SportsCenter and they can only devote 55 minutes to the Yankees or Red Sox instead of the whole 60!?!?

Think of the consequences!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Isn't it sad that they seem to think that MLB is only the National League, the Yankees and the Red Sox. Don't believe me...when the last time the Sunday night game was two AL teams with one not being Boston or NY?

Man - the ESPY's really jumped the shark for me tonight. All of the nominees had great stories. They didn't even highlight them. I'm pissed. I thought this was supposed to be about the athletes. Hollywood blew it! i could care less about destiny's child.

See above about Yankees-Red Sox. Aside from the couple dozen times a year they DO come through, ESPN is dead to me. I think I've watched SportsCenter for more than a half hour at a time TWICE in the last year. Their studio shows are crap, their programming is usually crap, and half their talent?

They're crap too.

I know they have the Arthur Ashe awards that are the big "courage" awards, but especially with the whole ESPY idea working now around Jim Valvano's speech and his charity, to brush by the GREAT stories of courage and dedication and "NEVER GIVING UP" so they can remind the world why they should be bowing at the feet of anything in pinstripes, red socks, or named Tiger Woods is ridiculous.

I agree. How bad were those skits? Hoosiers II and Ron Howard???? It was like they were just trying to fill dead time. An opportunity was missed. I was not inspired or entertained.

The Hoosiers II one was amusing in a silly way. But they tried to "Oscar it up" too much with those skits, especially at the expense of the good storylines. I think I've watched about 5 minutes of this so far, and it's making me nauseous.

What's with showing the announcer as she reads the presenters names!?!?!

All I want to know is how Matthew Perry ended up landing this gig? I watched the beginning of this show and almost puked when he went into his little "monologue." It was sad. This is why I never, under any circumstances watch award shows. They are pathetic excuses for sad people to pretend they have lives. If it wasn't for Jordan, I wouldn't even have turned this on for a second.

The guy who won the award did deserve it, but it was a crime to rob the other nominees of even a mention. Simply having Jordan's name mentioned would have been great publicity for MS awareness. Unfortunately, ESPN feels that 10 seconds more of Destiny's Child is more important.

After reading how bad the show was, I am reminded why I haven't watched ESPN in months.

Yeah, I was pissed. Did they even mention the other nominee's for best comeback athlete? I didn't hear it so I am just curious. They definitely could have done nice pieces on all of the nominees for that instead of having Jay-Z's girls perform. Screw the ESPYs...

Thought I'd toss in my two cents...

I only had the ESPYs on mute until I saw the comeback award. I watched about the football dude then turned it off and read a book. It was the only award I even cared to see (regardless of the outcome) and I also felt that the other people nominated got shafted in not having their stories told. [And I'm not saying this because I know one of the nominees, they ALL had remarkable stories.]

I quit watching ESPN sometime before Kenny Mayne started working there because it was already annoying me to the extent that it seems to be annoying some of you now (except the baseball teams back then were the Braves and the Indians, not the Yankees and Red Sox).

And I don't even want to hear someone from Ohio telling me that THEY get too much Red Sox...

That's the belly of the beast you're in. We all get the same ESPN, and the same ESPN is ridiculous the way they present teams.
