The 301-day NHL lockout is over.
The NHL and NHL Players’ Association released a joint statement that they've reached an agreement in principle which, pending ratification, will allow NHL hockey return this fall.
According to the press release, "details of the new agreement will not be made available publicly pending the formal ratification process by the NHLPA Members and the NHL Board of Governors.
"It is anticipated that the ratification process will be completed
next week, at which time the parties will be prepared to discuss the details of the agreement and plans for next season. No further comment will be made until then."
It has also been learned the 30 team player reps will meet via a conference call at noon (eastern time) today and players will vote on the proposal next Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday. A board of governors ratification vote will likely follow shortly thereafter.
The two sides have met for 10 straight days, including a marathon session that stretched through Tuesday night and into this morning.
It has been widely reported the new labor deal will feature a hard team salary cap and a 54 per-cent linkage between overall league revenues and player compensation.
Halle-freakin-lujah!!!

Here's one fan who's happy to see the league back, but won't spend a dime to watch a game nor buy anything. What they did was childish and selfish. I'm glad they're back and all, but I really hope no one shows up for the season premiere.

I have to be very diplomatic b/c Tom Hicks (I mean "Mr. Hicks" --I hate when I have to use the word Mr.) & the Stars are clients of my firm, but I will be there with bells on & a big fat expense account to spend. See, I am just one of those bad hockey fans that real hockey fans hate. I go so I get to wear cute outfits & drink lots of beer while pretending to be interested in my clients' boring stories. But I will be there.BGDrew wrote:Here's one fan who's happy to see the league back, but won't spend a dime to watch a game nor buy anything. What they did was childish and selfish. I have already heard that tickets will be much, much cheaper & they are going to do lots of promotions. But for teams like mine that cater to corporate crowds, I doubt it will be that slow. JMO though.
I'm a CBJ fan, but you won't see me in the crowd the first season back, just my feelings.

"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

You are funny! Actually, it's not such a bad gig. And, right this very moment, I am looking out over my beautiful view of the AAC (where the Stars & Mavs play) and I am ready for my platinum parking passes to arrive so I can watch some Dallas Stars hockey!!!!! (there are a few Canadian/ BG people I know who are rolling their eyes at me right now, so I will go ahead & add it in for them):Falcon Fanatic wrote:Ineedbotox wrote:I want YOUR job!!!BGDrew wrote:I have to be very diplomatic b/c Tom Hicks (I mean "Mr. Hicks" --I hate when I have to use the word Mr.) & the Stars are clients of my firm, but I will be there with bells on & a big fat expense account to spend.
