it should be Freddie Falcon on the game IMO, no reason not to be, unless the University didnt allow it or wanted both?
4th & 13 on PU 32yd line.. 56,000 fans up on their feet screaming, i held my breath the entire play trying to make as little noise as possible.. wouldnt u know Sharon would make the biggest touchdown catch in the history of BG Football, FALCON UP!

I'll get the game (and PS or XBox, for that matter) when our mascots are represented. Until then...not really interested in the electronic gaming yet.
I can't speak for athletics, but the birds' absense from the game is certainly not because Fred and Frieda don't want to be a part of it. I guess maybe there could be some sort of conspiracy led by Paul Krebs to keep BGSU's mascots out of this game...
My bet is that EA's programmers haven't gotten around to scanning/drawing/encoding/whatever they need to do for our mascots to be in the game. Besides, F & F might look a little different this year anyways...so future versions of the game will be most accurate.

Okay, I got to finally play yesterday. And with the rain & nothing else to do, I played quite a bit.
My first impression is that they upped the difficulty on this game a LOT. The past few seasons I've been able to trounce the computer on AA mode, but now I'm losing...I actually lost our first 4 games of the season before shutting the PS2 off in disgust from losing to Temple (not sure how many, if any, of these results are now saved).
I'm trying to use the new control scheme. Reviewers all said that once you get used to it, it'll be an improvement. I still have to think about hitting O instead of X to switch my players. That little delay can be crucial. I don't think that my inability to master the new control scheme is what is holding me back, however. Offense seems much more difficult than in year's past. I'm having a real hard time throwing the ball over the middle, and BG's OL seems to be total crap most of the time. The running game seems pretty good, but I don't really care for BG's playbook in this game. I would like to have at least one "i" formation set, other than goalline. I might try to tweak my playbook, I'll look at what options are there.
My biggest complaint in this game is that the deep ball is too easy, IMO. The one offensive success I can have consistently is launching it deep to Chuck. I think if I started doing that on every play I'd be unstoppable on offense, since I'm completing it about 50% of the time.
In all, I think I like this. Last year's version was too easy on AA, and Heisman changed the game so much it wasn't really enjoyable. I think once I figure out how to become competitive on AA this year, it'll be a good game.
I also played one game of online play. I fell to Iowa 28-40. It was a good game, and the gameplay was pretty smoot. The game definitely shines in online mode.

I don't play online, but have had a chance to fiddle a bit more against the computer.
hammb - I agree they've raised the bar. While the deep ball is there often, I find that the short timing patterns are a lot trickier than last year's model. Last night I finally noticed the "package" feature, which I have to say is an amazing upgrade that I can't believe I didn't notice before. I used to get frustrated that my #1 receiver never seemed to lead the team in receptions. Now I can futz with the formation to move Sharon around and create some interesting mismatches.
On defense, I have real problems defending the pass. Go figure.
It's also taking me some time to figure out the in-season recruiting. But I'm not very bright, so that's no surprise.
I started two Dyansties (the first one got deleted by an overzealous 7-year-old who shall remain nameless!). In both, I got through the Wisky game with very different results.
Game 1: On the first play from scrimmage, Omar is hit as he throws. The ball is picked off an run back for a TD; O4 is out for the game with a back injury. It only got worse. Turner's first pass was picked off and the return set Wisky up nicely. A Pope fumble helped put me behind 21-0 before you could say "who busted the controller?" I put together a time-consuming drive to end the half 21-7. I opened the second half with another long TD drive and Wisky kicked a FG. Down 24-14, I traded punts. Then Crumpler came up with an INT deep near the goal line and I thought I had the momentum. I drove 90-some yards to the goal line. Pope got hit at the 1, fumbled into the end zone and, while the three Falcons surrounding the ball looked on, a Badger fell on it. Game over, 38-17.
Game 2: Omar throws for for 336 yards, Pope runs for 100, Chuck returns a punt for a TD, the Falcon D records seven sacks and three turnovers (an INT and two FR). BG rolls 52-14.
A thought on BG's defense. True to life, it's easy to get beat in the air. But after fiddling with it a bit, here's my take - you have to be aggressive on defense with a variety of coverages and blitzes. We're not built to just send four guys and sit back in a zone. I made that mistake in the first game (and in a "warm up" game before the dynasty). In the second, I wasn't blitz happy, but I certainly put a lot more pressure on.

i love playing pass defense. I havent had any problems with it. i have been getting pretty good at timing the ball and get a lot of user picks. jelani jordan has been a stud for me on and off line play. steve sanders is my fav. target with jacobs but sharon does seem to turn alot of short passes into long gains for me

im the opposite, i gave 255 yards to Jonathan Orr, and Stocco finished with 350 on me, Chuck had 8 catches, i kept trying to force the ball into Sanders and either got picked or incomplete, but still won a fairly realistic game 31-21, 1-0 on my dynasty baby!tekekini wrote:i love playing pass defense. Toledo's mascot is in the game because they're conference champs. As for the other MAC mascots? How many Kangaroos do you see in the mascot world?
