Gameday in Pitt for opening weekend

Post by BGSUVA »

Are you kidding me?
What a joke, Notre Dame vs Pitt is more attractive match up than BGSU/Wisconsin, Boise State/UGA, or GT/Auburn? I hate Notre Dame. This is just as rediculous as them going to USC/ND last year, when everyone knew it would be a blow out.

Well, with Weiss at the helm and the traditionally strong ND fan base (at least among those who remember when they were consistently good), it's not a surprise that they'd pick this game. ND makes me sick and it's my sincere hope that the entire program flames out and ends up in a dumpster, but this isn't a big surprise.

a good choice, ND is the greatest program in D-1 football, especially considering they have sold out 190 home games in a row and also travel well enough to sell out other schools that can fill there stands like us, Pitt has a pretty darn good program.. making it to a BCS bowl last year and now with Wandstedt at the helm shouldnt miss a beat, should be a great game i hope ND can pull out the W for new coach Charlie Weis.
4th & 13 on PU 32yd line.. 56,000 fans up on their feet screaming, i held my breath the entire play trying to make as little noise as possible.. wouldnt u know Sharon would make the biggest touchdown catch in the history of BG Football, FALCON UP!

ND football is the #1 biggest draw in college sports. There is no argument to be made, there is no comparison. They have the largest fan following by a long shot and they bring in the biggest ratings.

ND has been struggling of late, but by bringing in a new coach I'm sure there is a renewed interest. Its hard to ever fault a network for putting ND ahead of the rest, its guaranteed ratings for them.

Oh yeah, I forgot about Wandstedt, too. Great story line all the way around.

hammb: agreed. ND makes me sick, but they draw. I mean, how many other schools could go about scheduling games at neutral sites across the country and call them home games, as ND is proposing (Giants Stadium, etc.)? I despise them, but they draw, plain and simple.

One of these statements is at least 85% true. The other, well, not so much.

As long as Gameday can keep Tyler Palko away from the live microphones, they'll be fine.

Well I would still agree with both statements. ND has not had a dominant team since 1993 yet they are still huge. Maybe not in terms of recent sucuss but their history and storied tradition has kept them in the greatness category. They can go 13-0, 3-10, or 7-5 and still get tons of publicity. Maybe we are reading the statemnet differently but I think ND is still loooked at as one of the greatest programs.

funny how that phrase "one of the" can make a ridiculous statement true.

Them making it to a BCS game is a joke...we could have made it if we were in the Big East...A lot of teams could have made it if they were in the Big East. The fact that the Big East gets an automatic bid is rediculous and reason #421,526 I hate the BCS

Thank goodness this isn't what I thought it was. I thought that ABC was not going to show the BG/Wisky game in favor of ND/Pitt.

I'd definately say that it would be a pretty good choice to go to Pitt for this game, especially with the two new coaches both having high expectations.

Yeah, I never expected Gameday to be in Madison for our game. I expect them to be in Boise for our game.

I believe it was posted around here that this was supposed to be the 2nd or 3rd best game of the entire season...

And by the way, I'm dead serious. :!:
