UT Rocket Football Commercials

Post by Anonymous »

Is anyone else sick and annoyed at the UT Rocket Football commercials. Those who are living in NW Ohio I am sure know of what I am talking about. I think a 3rd grader could produce better commercials than these lame commercials. For those not in the area maybe Grant can tape them and put them on here. The last commercial was of Brucie vacuuming his apartment while wearing his football gear and then trying to eat popcorn corn through his helmet. Also, I think BG should produce some commercials and have them air as well. Just a thought. I would like to know what those who live in the area thing of these commercials.

Some commercials for us would be good. We definitely need more of them with the numbers we get.

Can't remember what year it was anymore but I hated the UT commercials that talked about the "baby backs." So dumb.

But these commercials are so dumb. I have no idea who is producing them, maybe its Amstutz kids or something producing them. After all he is in on of them, and he must been eating alot of donuts over the off-season because he looks about 50lbs heavier.

As I posted in a thread a couple weeks ago... I don't care if it's serious or cheesy, shot on film or home video, we need to get some commercials out there. ESPECIALLY if Toledo's doing it. Not that we need to "keep up with the Joneses", but in a way, we do. Toledo TV reaches alot farther than Bancroft and Secor, and it must be viewed as OUR territory. Maybe not the inner city, but everything outside of 475 should be painted orange.

try this one then. http://utrockets.collegesports.com/spor ... 05aab.html

I just watched them, and I don't know what the hell you're talking about. Even if the video quality is poor (which I don't know if it is or not), the commercials are damn crafty. I have to give UT a thumbs up on this campaign.

Now. What I would do with it is create a series of spots focusing on the TEAM. Even drop slight jabs in with Omar talking about "I get alot of press, but we've got so much else to offer." Put the spotlight on the star, but the focus on the entire team.

They are cheesy indeed! But still, I find them rather amusing.

Given his stance on getting more butts in the seats, I bet Coach Brandon would lower his standards quite a bit if a cheesy commercial meant a boost in attendance.

Especially with the completely viable option of using WBGU-TV to shoot the spots (I imagine they have those capabilities), TV ad space is, in my mind, a necessity.

Yeah, the technical quality of the commercials is pretty low. I've made better-looking stuff on iMovie (including a cheestastic country music video where John Floyd makes an appearance dressed as a woman- bwahaha!!).

As for the content, I think that the commercials are kinda cute. Kinda. I chuckled a bit, but that's all that the Bottle Rockets are getting out of me!!

And you know, they aren't so much commercials for UT football as they are for Gradkowski, who just happens to play at UT. Hmm... is that all they have worth advertising about their football program?
