Can we rule out a covert scouting expedition by Amstutz gone horribly awry after he tripped running down the stadium steps, creating seismic tremors that loosened the slab?

Yes, because after close inspection of the photographs, you can see that the concession stands are still intact. Amstutz was definitely not in the area at the time in question.

This is not good. :ugh: We dont' even have all the money yet for the Sebo center yet and now this happens. This is not looking good. Unless we get a big donation from somebody , this Sebo Center is just gonna be a pipe dream.

I don't want to downplay the fact that this whole thing is truely a big safety concern. It definitely is, and something needs to be done to be sure it doesn't happen again. At the same time, it's not going to effect the upcoming season, and it won't change the progress of the Sebo Center.

All they need to do is inspect, and probably change, the anchors on the rest of those slabs. If they are unsure that will fix the problem, then they could be removed until a better idea develops.

Changing the anchors is something I could do with the help of one friend and a good forklift, and I am only modestly trained and experienced in building safety and construction.
In other words, in reality, you probably wouldn't want me to do the work

The point is, making sure the rest of the panels are safe should not be that expensive or difficult. Once the problem is assessed and they come up with a plan of attack, a trained two man crew should be able to take care of it in two days tops.

This is a dumb question... is there any way the panels can be replaced by a new material? Concrete panels seem so 1960s. Maybe they can be removed and the whole stadium could be given a new look with alternating brown and orange panels made of something lighter?

There is no such thing as dumb questions, only dumb people.

As per your idea, I really like the idea of alternating orange and brown panels and think you may be on to soemthing there. It could look very cool if done properly, perhaps with Falcon emblems and/or past Falcon great numbers centered in the panels.

I like that idea as well, it would add some color and certainly would break up the "cement" look the stadium has since there isn't a brick facade or anything. I still think hanging bowl banners from the sides of the stadium could help as well. We've been to seven bowl games (and won four of them) and have nothing visible to show for it when walking around or in the stadium.

Concrete falls from stadiums all the time hence the now defunct stadium that the Seahawks and Mariners use to play in, or up in Montreal where they had some issues with their stadium as well. Concrete breaks, stadiums crumble down, nothing stands forever...

The concrete didn't hit anyone... the stadium will go through a review... necessary measures will be made to prevent this from turning inton a crisis situation...

At somepoint every stadium will have to be replaced... its a matter of when and not if...

Personally I thought it was sad the thing couldn't have landed on the food stands. Anything would have been an improvement.

I think if they take all of the matching chunks down, we don't need to worry about the exposed and cleaner cement sticking out.

Give it about six months and the morning doves will make the new spots look like the rest of the stadium.

As for renovations, anything that brings DLP boldly into the 1970s is good!
