Hmmmm, I was thinking just the reverse. I am surprised that Z is doing so well because of the difference of the number of votes from the East compared to the West. If it was an electoral college I would agree.Flipper wrote:Zabranansky is also the only QB west of the Big Muddy in the poll. Palko, Omar and Gradkobololowski are lumped together in two states.
This poll lacks regional balance...I think it's a push poll designed to make Boise State more formidable.
The question is kinda strange though. Although Omar may be considered "better" by most of the media, I don't know that he is more underated.
Good luck next year Falcons.

Alright, I'm going to bring my MACbbs post over here to express what I think of this whole over/under-rated thing.FalconKing wrote:To be honest, I am not sure that Omar is underrated at all. He is being projected as the #2 or #1 QB for next years draft and as a Heisman candidate. What else can we possibly hope for as far as recognition regarding Omar??
As BG fans, some of us think Omar is deserving of even more recognition than he is already receiving. In our orange and brown tinted worlds, we think Omar is under-rated in that we think he is the number one QB in the land, not number two or lower. Much the same way some UT fans think Gradkowski is the best QB in the MAC, and not Omar. Sure most of us BG fans are biased, but we are also rightfully holding out that Omar will exceed or match his sophomore numbers of 41 TD passes to 4 INT. In that respect, we believe Omar is deserving of more recognition than he is already getting. We think he is a legitimate contender for the Heisman and not some pretender from a small school as the Trev Alberts of the world say when slighting Omar and Gradkowski for playing in the MAC. Now to be fair though, in the true sense of under-rated, Omar is probably not the best candidate for this list. Perhaps better suited for this under-rated poll would have been less-touted QBs Cody Hodges, Kent Smith, Josh Betts or Paul Pinegar. Either way, its nice to have Omar included in a meaningless ESPN online poll.

The choices suck, to be blunt.
Palko played in a BCS game by virtue that their conference was miserable.
As stated before, Gradkowski is a product of a system--I would rather see Betts as the second MAC qb.
Zabransky? Ehhh. Again, a product of a system. We'll see in a couple of weeks, but the hype over Boise is a bit nauseating. Honestly, Fresno is probably a better team.
A couple of choices that I would rather see: Bret Meyer from Iowa State (very athletic, great leader, best qb in the Big 12 North); Brian Brohm from Louisville (great job backing up LeFors--who cut apart Boise--last year, should shine this year); Paul Pinegar from Fresno (better qb than Zabransky, and NO media attention--isn't that what "underrated" is about).
Feel free to rip these apart.

if Brain Brohm plays like he did last year I don't think he will be underrated. For a true freshman he had some incredible poise and played very well against Miami. If UL would have sat LeFors a little sooner (perfer the fumbles) I think Brohm could have brought home the win. However, I am not too excited to watch him bring the Cardinals to Commonwealth stadium Sept 4th. He is going to put some big points up on UK.

The lack of any blue states at all on that map makes me very happy in a guilty sort of way.
