This is a really, really cool idea.
Thanks - Maybe I should edit out the "this is a dumb question" part of that post.

Bob Waddle. I don't know his E-mail offhand, but I'm sure you can easily find in on the U. website.

According to todays Blade, ALL the panels are going to be taken down. No talk of repair, they will just be eliminated.

Falcon30's idea is still fantastic, though.

This is a dumb question... is there any way the panels can be replaced by a new material? Concrete panels seem so 1960s. Maybe they can be removed and the whole stadium could be given a new look with alternating brown and orange panels made of something lighter?
Just paint the panels.... no need to change material. However, if the panels are coming down as someone else mentioned, it does not matter. The idea of hanging banners would be cool and colorful; the color and motion (if the wind ever blows in BG  ) would make for a festive atmosphere... which is what you are all saying.

And Redskins4ever - concrete can be repaired, the stadium does not need to be replaced. Just repaired and updated. Like I stated earlier, the OSU horseshoe is concrete. The west stands at Yager are concrete and I think the new (and soon to be home stands - or at less the Redskins bench will be relocated to the student side) are concrete.

And God please...... its concrete not cement.... cement is an ingredent in concrete (Cement, gravel, sand, and water) The water and cement (which is a powder) combine for a chemcial reaction which bonds itself around the gravel (course aggregate) and sand (fine aggregate). The Beverly Hillbillies had a cement swimmiin' hole..... We Falcons have concrete buildings, stadiums, and aquatic facilities.

I agree SF. When I first saw the pics of what happened, I thought why not take all those panels off and do something else. And Falcon30 came up with a great idea!
It would be great to see "Falcon greats of the past" or something up there instead.

Heck we could even paint the areas pink~

fwiw I was golfing at Creason this evening and a stretch of 4 or 5 of the panels have already been removed. There was some light construction equipment around also, presumably a part of the removal. There could have been more panels taken off of the away side, but I only golfed the front so I didn't see that side.

Jake:

I appreciate the suggestion, and have copied both Bryan Benner and Jim
McArthur with this so that they can think about alternatives as well.
I have been out of town, so I have not had an opportunity to discuss
this with anyone, but I am sure we will take a look to see what can be
done.

Thanks again for your note, we certainly appreciate your interest. I
will have to try to keep up with AZZ to see what you guys have in mind.

Thank you.

Curious the term used to describe the size the chunk. Seems to sound like how somebody described the size here on AZZ.

I think you wouldn’t have to install anything permanent. Maybe bolt on some mounts, off of which some banners could be dropped from. Maybe tie them off with lines extending from each corner to the main stadium supports as to keep them stable and attractive. It would be bold, colorful, and easily updated. Maybe even hang them out on special non-football dates, and preview days.

I wouldn't hang banners from the top of the stadium where these panels are currently attached, but I would hang/attach banners to the vertical supports of the stadium.

I'll see if I can photoshop some ideas up.

I also want to do a photoshoppoing of some bunting around the front rows of the stadium, similar to the bunting with logos and wordmarks seen around the newer NFL stadiums. . .
