We've been getting training camp feeds from around the NFL at work this week, and I've been looking for an Assassin highlight or two. Nothing yet, but I'll keep my eyes peeled for #19!!!

why is it that seemingly every new receiver in the nfl the past few years is wearing no. 11 or 19 (including jerry rice)?
It was my understanding that WRs have wanted to wear those numbers for years, but they were against NFL rules. I think they lifted that rule last year or so, and it makes it the "cool" thing to wear the low numbers.
from what i understand jenkins just moved to #1 on the depth chart and I hear a lot of talk about the falcons lacking a good possession receiever, which cole would be good at i think. kinda like proehl was for the rams
11 and 19. The reason that many rookie WRs are wearing low numbers is not because it is the cool thing to do. TE's and WR's are marked to wear numbers 80-89. When they come into camp veterans usually have those numbers already. TE's can wear 40-49 as well but don't have to. Some WR's (Keyshawn for instance) have recieved special permission from the league to wear the lower numbers, many were grandfathered in before the rule came down I beleive. But regardless the rule is WR's 80-89. If Cole makes the team. His number will likely change.

That rule is gone. A number of WRs, Michael Jenkins and Roy Williams for instance, wore numbers under 20 last year. I don't know why, but they took away that rule and it seems to be the cool thing to wear low numbers as a WR now.
All I know is I was at Dick's tonight and finally found the Orange Braylon jersey
