I hate to say it, but I never watched the show, nor went out of my way to catch it during the re-runs.

With so many BGSU games on TV these days, the need to watch it wasn't that great.

With the odd way games get scheduled these days, the shows are hard to follow anyway. It may be less BGSU as much as it is a trend having gotten old.

I agree that i didn't see it as much as I used to, but I doubt if its a trend. I think you will still see many schools with the shows....

I emailed the University...asking about the show and the Assistant AD/Communications replied with this:

"Thanks for your thoughts. It really boils down to the fact that the show is ineffective in helping us sell tickets and we need to invest the resources we put into the show into getting fans to come to the games. That, and the fact, that the majority of University's are doing away with these shows altogether. We were the only school in the MAC paying to air our show on Fox Sports."

Thanks for the welcome...

I live about as far away from BGSU as you can get without leaving the state of Ohio and my TiVo ALWAYS caught the Brandon and Dakich shows. There's no media coverage of the Falcons in this part of the state! It's all Buckeyes or Mountaineers or (gulp) Herd or even Bobcats! I'll miss the shows, but hopefully I'll get to see more of the Falcons games on TV.

This reply contains some bad grammar, especially considering that it came from the assistant AD for communications. Why are his writing skills so poor?

Because a vast majority of people accept it as OK. Personally, it makes me sick.

Irregardless of the grammar, I'm surprised they didn't try to swing a deal with FOX36 to at least get the show on in the Toledo market. From there, affiliations could be made to get it on in other markets, without having to go the cable route. Admittedly, that part would be a longshot, but at least having a quality show run in the immediate "target area" would help.

Of course, as long as they're (or is it "there"? ) focusing on taking the money they would have spent on the coaches show and putting it into direct marketing of tickets, I can't complain.

And, also, it was an e-mail he probably spent 30 seconds on.

Cut him some slack.

Not so much a "taunt" as a spearing to the midsection.

FWIW, I never watched the shows. As far as football goes, I remember growing up that the coaches shows were filmed Satuday night/Sunday morning and aired on Sunday's around noon. That was cool because you had the immediate feedback right after the game. Our coaches show aired Friday night/Saturday morning. At that time of the week I wasn't interested in rehashing the game from a week ago when this weeks game was just hours away.
