Maureen? That's an odd name for a guy.

Wait a minute, you don't think Maurreen is a woman, do you?

I noticed that a while back.

No complaints so far. She's done a couple of stories she probably could have weaseled out of if she wasn't interested in the beat.

Do well in high school biology did we?

She would be the first woman since Amy Ford to have the job. Duane Schooley(?) I think had the job before that, during Blackney's first couple of years.

Seriously. Who do they think they are thinking a woman could cover BG football?

(Another excuse to post that picture... priceless!)

That is a classic photo.....makes me laugh every time I see it. :) But seriously, covering the BG beat would be a great job in my eyes, it would be a great job to have....I'm kind of jealous. I hope she enjoys the job.

As someone who spent a number of years writing sports, I have to say I don't envy her one bit. About the only thing I miss about covering sports for a newspaper is the free admission.

That being said, I hope she overcomes The Blah's standards and produces a lot of great work.

I always liked John Wagner's articles covering BG the last few years. Stand up guy and he knows the league being the former Kent State SID.

1987, its a good point. While it looks like a great job, and there are certainly much worse ones, it has hassles and difficulties like any other job. At the end of the day, its a job, its work. There's a big difference between going to a game because you want to (and tailgating, leaving when you want, going home when its over) and because you have to.

I'd like to be a color man like Bob "man love for Cole Magner" Davie. I would hate being a producer or director of a college football telecast. It would be impossible to view the game as anything other than work.

I'm not doubting the work load of being a reporter. I've been an SID in the ACC for eight years and have worked and have many friends who are reporters. Being an SID is a ton of work and to being a reporter isn't exactly a luxury job by any means. There's no doubt I found myself many times wishing I was a fan and not having to work events as an SID. But with that said, working events meant covering games, and there are a lot worse jobs than having to do that, especially down here in basketball season. So although being a reporter may not be all it's cracked up to be, getting a BG-beat and having to write and cover BG would be as good of a reporting job as I could ever ask for (in the reporting business). Heck, look how much all of us on AZZ write and"report" about BG on this site...just imagine getting to do this in more detail and actually get paid to do it too. I'd do it.
GO BG!!!
