The loss of any young athlete is sad. An aspect to the young mans loss which adds even more to it, is in the fact that he came to BGSU, wanting to be a Falcon, unrecruited, no scholarship. There isn't anything more pure and basic that chasing a dream. To have taken on such a physically demanding task as he did, and literally die in the undertaking makes this a special kind of tragedy.

The irony of the matter is that you can't start a scholarship in him memory for walk-ons, without running afoul of the NCAA. However, I'm curious if a graduate scholarship could be founded and awarded to a graduating walk-on with the program.

The question has to be raised, as I'm sure it has been already within the department, as to what would be a fitting way to recognize his loss for the rest of this season?

Forgive me if this might seem silly at all. But what if they were to name one of the practice fields after him? They have three main fields, plus the seldom used one nearest Bill's Hill.

I read the article in the Blade.

He was a great kid. I'm sure he would have had a great future in the BG family.
He will be sorely missed. My condolences once again to the family and friends of this fine young man.

I heard about it this morning on the way to work. What a tragedy. The football team, BG community and most importantly, Aaron's family are in my thoughts and prayers right now.

I really don't know what to say when these things happen. It almost leaves me speechless when a young man in arguably the best shape of his life suddenly loses his life. My thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Aaron Richardson, as well as the BGSU Football Program and the BGSU Community.

with a heavy heart and deep felt sympathy to Aaron's family and friends. A loss of this magnitude always hits deeper and harder. For a young life to be ended before it could really begin. Our prayers are with you.

Aaron

My heart aches deeply for Aaron's parents. Being a parent myself, I can imagine absolutely nothing worse in life than having to bury a child. I will be praying for his family.

Former Perkins Teammate

Post by MUohio »

Aaron was a few years younger than me, but I knew him very well. Great athlete, even better person. Wished that I had another chance to cross paths with him to congratulate him on making the team at BGSU. Aaron has been the third recent alumni/outstanding student athlete from Perkins High School to pass on in the last year and a half. I hope and pray that he will be the last former schoolmate of to pass away for many years. Thoughts and prayers are with his family.

For the Family

I am orginally from Clyde, Ohio. Perkins High School is in the same conference as Clyde (SBC). It sounds like Aaron was a wonderful young man and he came to BG representing the SBC and the surrounding areas very well. My deepest sympathy to the Richardson family. We are thinking of you...Aaron will forever be a Falcon in all of our hearts.

Along with everyone else, my heart goes out to Aaron's family. I don't have words to express my sympathy. I hope Aaron's efforts are remembered by all of us. To us, this is a game; to the players, it is their dreams, aspirations, and potential futures.

According to an article on ESPN, they still don't know COD even after the autopsy.

That's correct. The Sentinel and Blade (I think) reported that the autopsy didn't reveal anything. Microscopic and lab results are still being analyzed, so the autopsy process isn't complete.
