Quick Harris Interview

Post by hammb »

Josh was one of the players that BerniesInsiders got some quick quotes from after camp yesterday. Nothing huge, but thought I'd share with those of you that don't have subscriptions.
Josh Harris

Q – Is there a comfort level you’d like to reach and if so, have you reached it?

A – No. There is no comfort level. Not when you’re trying to fight and win a job. You just have to continue to compete and I won’t be comfortable until training camp is over and they say “you’ve made it” or “you didn’t make it.” You can’t be comfortable because as soon as you do that, that’s when somebody else slides up in front of you. I’m fighting as hard as I can. I’ve got a family and I like some type of stability, so I’m going to give it my best effort in this training camp.

Q – Is this is a situation where you might put too much pressure on yourself or not enough pressure on yourself?

A – That’s the other thing you can’t do. You have to find the happy medium. You can’t put too much pressure on yourself because then you can’t play. You have to put some pressure on yourself. But you don’t have to put any more pressure than the actual situation is going to put on you. Otherwise, you’d be stressed out.

Q – How would you assess your performance here so far?

A – I’m doing all right. I’ve got to get better. That’s the best assessment I can give you. Until I’m perfect or flawless and don’t make any mistakes, I always have to get better.

Q – What do you need to work on?

A – Just a little bit of everything. Recognition, making the transition from seeing what you see and then reacting to it. The quicker you can see things, the quicker you can react to them.

Q – Is the comfort level getting better with each practice?

A – It’s getting better. You see things, you start to recognize things, things you’ve seen before.

Good Lord is it good to see J5 wearing that uniform. It looks so similar to our old uniforms that it always brings back wonderful memories of Josh's accomplishments at BGSU.

I know this thread is really, really non-constructive, but I couldn't resist. :)

Seeing josh wear that uniform makes me want to puke. I know beggars can't be choosers, but I really hope josh gets a shot with a better organization. If Cleveland does end up being the place for Josh then good luck to him and I wish him all the best. But I can't root for the browns.....ever. It's like rooting for toledo....or the Yankees.

Born and raised. Of course i would probably hate the browns regardless but being a steeler guy just adds fuel to the fire.

If I look at it objectively though (which is awfully difficult), I can't come up with a more inept NFL franchise since the merger. It seems like everything the Browns touch turns to sh** and I don't want to see Josh suffer the same fate.

I'm a Browns fan. A HUGE Browns fan. I still think they're going to suck this year.

Even knowing that, I'm incredibly excited about this upcoming season. Having Harris on the team, along with the new regime, has made me look forward to this season more than I have in the last couple years.

I think the team will be far more exciting and more competitive than last year, but I still don't think they win more than 5 or 6 games. They just don't have enough upper tier talent. Especially if they cannot get Braylon into camp.

Despite the opinion of those clouded by hatred of the Browns, Harris is in the absolute best place he could possibly be. There are very few NFL teams that don't have a young QB they're counting on to become the future of the franchise. Cleveland has an aging vet, and a competition between two young guys that both have talent, but neither was a high first rounder. This may be the only place in the NFL were Harris has a legitimate shot to become the starter if he earns it. When you're a talented fringe player who needs a shot the best place you could possibly be is a team that is in a complete rebuilding mode.

Excellent points. I totally agree and I actually think I may have said something along these lines when he was first signed. No matter how logically I look at it though, I can't get excited about one of my favorite players being with the browns. It just hurts my heart =) Imagine if your brother got signed by Toledo.

As far as roetheljomber goes -- It took me about 8 straight wins to warm up to him. I remember being on the golf course last year when I heard he had fell to the steelers at 11 (Which I had hoped for for months). I was incredibly excited because I thought he was the best QB in the draft after watching him rip us apart twice that year. But I was still a little worried about having to love a miami guy. I got over that about halfway through the schedule last year. Hell after years of Kordell Stewart, anybody is easy to like.

understandable -- what if Harris by some weird circumstance was set to start for the Steelers this year. How would that make you guys feel? Hell he could probably have a winning record with that team around him.
Like Roethldabber said in a recent interview -- "My role on the team is to take the snap, and hand it to a runningback".

I do not think it is too hard to spell Ben's name. It is spelled:

Rothlisberger

Oh and his girlfriend is not too bad either:

Natalie Gulbis
