BGSUVA wrote:how big is Purdues stadium? I thought they had a relatively small one, but they hold 44K for seats for season ticket holders? UVA's sold out their season ticket orders this year, second in a row, and only have 39K seats reserved for season ticket holders, and Scott holds 61,500 (though we've gone beyone capacity like 4 or 5 times, got in over 64K for Miami last year I believe)

Ross-Ade Stadium holds 62,500... so yes there season tickets have already taken up 70.4% of the stadium!
4th & 13 on PU 32yd line.. 56,000 fans up on their feet screaming, i held my breath the entire play trying to make as little noise as possible.. wouldnt u know Sharon would make the biggest touchdown catch in the history of BG Football, FALCON UP!

UK has it right on the $$$. Preaching to the chior here. I buy 4 season tix every year and have gotten numerous friends from work and elsewhere to come to games. I tell them if they can't go to BG for a game, there is NO excuse not to go to the Kent State game. It's right in our backyard...and that goes for Akron next year.

OK, I'm not dead ...

Post by BGSU99 »

I haven' t posted in a couple of months, but yes, we're all preaching to the choir here. I sent the BGSU ticket office a check for $301 for season tickets, parking passes, and some tickets to away games. I'm pumped for BGSU Football! We've been predicted by some publications to win the MAC this season and BGSU96 and I will be there to see it! I'm also surprised and disappointed for the kids and coaching staff that we don't do better in the attendance department, but we've discussed this so many times that there isn't much else to add to the discussion. I'm watching my dvd of the GMAC Bowl right now. I'm so stoked for BGSU Football this season! I'm a little bummed that our first home game isn't until October! Hey Freak, love you man! We decided to get chair cushions this year so we wouldn't have to tote our seat custions into the games! I cannot wait until our first tailgate in the east parking lot Brother! We will not be able to wait until October, Man! We will have to take a day off next month to go to a practice or something! Take care and tell Mrs. Freak and the freaklings we said hello!

Ed,
Wondered what happened to you two....glad to see you're back "among us" again. Hopefully, I'll be able to make AT LEAST the KSU away game (already got us booked for Madison)... but with my dad's illness, all I can hope for is to get to all the home games + Kent, I guess.

"I "hit' the Cleve. Alumni group with the idea of a bus trip back to campus for a NON-HOMECOMING game... especially the OU game as a possible.... Seems as if they only want to do the bar scene for their get togethers...which frankly, doesn't appeal to me very much.(They said they'd "bring it up" for discussion at next exec. bd. meeting in August)...we'll see. "

Den,

That sounds like the C-bus chapter too. I asked once about hitting a game as an alumni chapter and was informed that there isn't enough interest to take a bus to BG. If it doesn't involve wine or beer tasting or a cash bar then they aren't interested. What really cracked me up was who they thought Ed and I were BG Maniacs because we go to so many games at BG. Most of them haven't been back to campus since they graduated(how sad is that.)

That's funny, the part about being BG maniacs. The sad thing is, this happens everywhere. It isn't the "cool" thing to do to go back to your alma mater and give back or support things. People have ridiculed me because I coach at my old high school. I think that's sad. It's the same as you said, they haven't been back since they walked that aisle. A place that gave them an education, supported things they wanted to do, and paved the way to get elsewhere in life is no longer good enough. I wish more alumni would take a look at what got them where they are and support it, whether it be college or high school.

DU-53,
Here is a true story from the BG/OSU game in 2003. I ran into my old roommate from Rogers and his wife at that game. They were all decked out in OHIO STATE stuff. Mind you they BOTH are BG grads. I shook my head and asked him "What are you doing???" He said, and I quote, "We were afraid to wear BG stuff here".
WTF??????? THAT would be the day. He emailed me a couple days after the game and said how good BG looked. Of course! If you would pay attention to YOUR alma mater, you'd know. What a Richardhead.

My sister, 1987 BG grad, was a guest of the OSU swim coach in a loge at that game. She is a swim coach at the local Y. She wore an OSU shirt. My dad and I were po'ed about that. She said she couldn't wear a BG shirt in that loge....then don't sit in the loge!! I guess she may have had a point, being the guest of the coach, but still!!!

At least my awesome wife Dana helped out. She is a 1989 OSU grad and was all decked out in ORANGE! Score one for the good guys.

I can't believe the people that graduated from BG and never go back. How could you not????

Falconfreak90 - I feel for you, I'd be pretty upset as well. Maybe you should give both of those people a phone call or an e-mail and get them back to a game this year.

Falconfreak - At the BGSU camp this summer, I had one of my players ask me who my favorite college football team was (while I was wearing my BGSU cap). I said "BG." He said something like, "No, it can't be, it's got to be a school in a real conference." I went off on him and told him that BG could beat 90% of all of the teams in college football if given the chance and he totally backed down. And his favorite team, Texas. What kid in the middle of the sticks in Ohio likes Texas? His mom even works at BG.

I can't stand the question: "What division does Bowling Green play in?" They can't seem to understand why I get a pissed off look and sneer "1A....same as OSU, same as Michigan" and they are actually suprised by that. This probably happens about once a week when someone seems the BG stuff in my cube.

From an entirely objective perspective, if you are a college football fan, there really is no way you couldn't have heard of Bowling Green over the past four years.

Don't forget to tell them we play in the Middle America MAC Conference! 8)

 Wow....should have told him BG played Oklahoma a heck of a lot better than Texas.

People that know me know I only support one school. Others get surprised when I mention BGSU as my fave team and school. Half the time I get..."But you root for the Buckeyes too, right?". :axe:

Ummm.....no.
