If Harris played for the Steelers it'd be the same reaction I had when he was drafted by the Ravens. I would hope he found success, but still lost every single game. I hate the Steelers as much or more than I hate UT. I've been hating them since birth and no player in the history of the NFL could change that opinion. I'd hate rooting against J5, but I would learn to deal with it. It's part of being both an NFL & College fan.Jacobs4Heisman wrote:mk455 wrote:dont get me wrong, he's a great qb... if he can put up the same numbers as last year... but miami + pittsburg just makes me want to puke.
understandable -- what if Harris by some weird circumstance was set to start for the Steelers this year. How would that make you guys feel? Hell he could probably have a winning record with that team around him.
Like Roethldabber said in a recent interview -- "My role on the team is to take the snap, and hand it to a runningback".
Now that Josh is with the Browns its like some sort of Nirvana

Me = Jealous. I'm really hoping The predator and/or Swish catch on with the steelers so I can join you in Nirvana. Unfortunately, they are both long shots to break camp with the team.
Oh well, I guess that's why I buy madden. I can get all my BG guys on the steelers and watch them destroy things. Once I draft Omar to be the starter and trade for J5 to be my backup QB, 3rd down back, and 5th receiver, I'll be happy.

Actually...the way my father and i spell it, its $hitburger...you know the name you give that mangy dog you kick on a weekly basis just for spite. I cannot for the life of me come up with a scenario (other than the Browns horrible luck in draft picks) where Fry Guy beats J5 for a spot on the team. That puts Josh at the third spot at the worst. Dilfer gets hurt, Johnson gets hit once, then Josh is in in time to avenge $hitburger in Pi$$burgh...sounds perfect to me!!! Of course I'm a delusional Browns fan....

Unfortunately, the talent levels on both teams would be pretty much like it was when it was BG vs Miami. That 2003 Miami team, regardless of QB play, was just flat out better than we were. Quite a bit better in fact. This is going to sound like homer talk, but The talent level in Pittsburgh is worlds ahead of the talent level in Cleveland this year. Josh would be hard pressed to hold up against pittsburgh's front 7 with a swiss cheese line in front of him. I think there would be a good chance for Josh to get hurt in that game and that is the last thing I want to see happen. I would never wish for Josh to go up against a fast, mean, blitzing team with no talent on the line in front of him.
Sorry Browns fans, I'm not trying to lord over you so please don't take it that way, I'm just calling it like I see it and I don't see it good for any browns QB this year.

The Browns can definitely not stack up against the Steelers across the board, but this year's Browns' OL will not be swiss cheese. Butch Davis was convinced that 5th & 6th round picks would make good starting guards. The guard play brought down the entire line (even resulting in season ending injuries to Faine...twice).
Savage went out and signed Joe Andruzzi & Cosey Coleman, both are legit starting NFL guards. They also ditched Ross "One of the best 3 OTs in the league" Verba and picked up LJ Shelton. Verba wasn't awful, but he wasn't great either...I think Shelton is at least his equal, and definitely has the potential to be a better player.
Tucker & Faine were already pretty good players on a terrible unit.
I actually think the Browns could do some things on offense if they get some QB play this year, and those 5 guys above stay healthy. They still have very little in OL depth, but the starting 5 seems pretty good. They've got more talent than the Steelers do at WR, and they've got some talent at RB as well. The problem is that the Browns defense could be, barring a coaching miracle, just dreadful this season.

I think Verba has some skills but was more interested in "having a good time" if you know what I mean. Witness the multiple visits to his home by the police and his most recent adventures in Vegas have been well documented.

good stuff -- I was not aware of all the changes to the starting OL. I was thinking it would be about the same as last year...basically the worst in the league. Hopefully for whoever is taking snaps that unit can do a decent job of protection.
As far as WR, that's the only unit I'm worried about this year for the steelers. As much of a jagoff as Burress was, he WAS the deep threat on that team. Fred gibson has a similar size/skill package but I'm not expecting great things from him until next year at the earliest. Throw hines' holdout into the mix (which should be cleared up soon) and suddenly the wr group looks very thin. Wilson and Randle el are talented, but there are questions as to the virtues of small fast WR's in today's NFL. Rotheljingo will definitely have some problems this year if he doesn't have hines to rely on. Of course if they can run the ball like last year, it won't be that much of a concern. Should be an interesting year in the North as the Ravens and Bengals look to be greatly improved and the browns have to be better than last year. I don't think you'll see another 15-1 season out of that division this year.
Roll Along!
If the Steelers want to repeat as division champs they need a healthy, happy Hines Ward. That guy is phenomenal, and I'm hoping he holds out for the yaer!
He is so underrated by many NFL fans its not even funny. He runs great routes, catches everything, and is the best blocking WR in the NFL. He gives it 100% on the field and is a good leader as well.
I'm not convinced how much Baltimore will really be improved this year. I suppose if 8-ball Jamal can stay outta prison this season they'll have him for most of the year. They added Mason, which is scary, but Boller is still going to be terrible. Their defense is always fantastic, but I just don't worry too much about any team being led by Kyle Boller.
Cincy could be vastly improved this year. Their offense with Chad Johnson & Rudi Johnson with an improving Carson Palmer could be deadly. They've also got a good, young OL, which is the key to any good offense. Their defense was awful last year, but drafting David Pollack will give an instant pass rush. That kid has a great motor, and was a fantastic pick, IMO.
I'm afraid it'll be Pittsburgh & Cincinnati duking it out this year for the division. I expect Baltimore to be a touch behind them, and Cleveland bringing up the rear
I expect improvement on gamedays from the Browns, but I'm not yet convinced how much it will show up in the record. 6-10 should be a realistic goal, better than that is gravy.
