Wisconsin is going be wearing throwback uniforms from 1962. I can't remember for sure if we ever talked about this. Anyway, anyone have any idea if we are too, and what are uni's looked like in 1962?

Re: Uniforms for Wisconsin game
Probably white pants trimmed in brown and white jerseys. That would be my guess, looking at the pics of the title teams from the 60's in the media guide.kdog27 wrote:http://www.madison.com/wsj/home/sports/ ... ntid=49203

If we wear current day unis, they could end up being an interesting and pretty accurate metaphor for the game. They are an old school powerhouse that smashes the run game and plays good defense and we are a modern, high-scoring, spread team that doesn't really play too much defense. We'll see which style works better in exactly 1 month.
No matter how bad our defense ends up being (or how good for you optimists out there), I really can't see Wisconsin scoring with us. I honestly think we will be in the mid 30's and I don't think they can get there. If Oklahoma only got to 40, I don't think there is much chance that Bucky can get to 30.

We last wore brown around 97 or 98.
It would be interesting if we went back to '62 unis- 1962 was a good year for us as well, we were M.A.C. Champions.
I know last year when Kent State opened at Iowa the Hawkeyes were able to foot the bill to put the Golden Flashes in retro uniforms. . . .

Wisconsin helmets
If you go to http://www.nationalchamps.net/Helmet_Project/index.htm you can find the Badger helmet (it is the first one, 1960-1966). The old school Badger fans on the Badgernation board are having orgasms, while younger fans think they look like crap, and kind of high-schoolish.
They look like crap. (Uniforms are real simple, no stripes) The last time the Badgers wore "throwbacks" was in the '94 season opener v. Colorado, when they got drilled. Let's hope history repeats itself.

The young 'uns seem to really like the sizzle and not the steak. I like the throwback simply because it represents history.brianthedog wrote:If you go to http://www.nationalchamps.net/Helmet_Project/index.htm you can find the Badger helmet (it is the first one, 1960-1966). I say we spray paint some falcons on the side of our helmets!

No luck on the BG throwbacks. From www.madison.com:
Wisconsin's first opponent, Bowling Green, will not be in throwback gear. The Falcons will come dressed as they are, a nationally ranked program with possibly the nation's top quarterback (Omar Jacobs).
What's up with that? Was adidas too cheap to pop for some road throwbacks, too?
"We kind of thought it was about us," said UW senior associate athletic director Vince Sweeney. "It's our celebration and our tradition and it had little to do with them coming in as the visiting team."

It is kind of silly to have one team in throwbacks and the other in present day IMO.UK Peregrine wrote: "We kind of thought it was about us," said UW senior associate athletic director Vince Sweeney. Adidas too cheap?? Naww the bill is on tha Badjahs, not the company that makes their uniforms. Wisconsin was too cheap to complete the throwback/turn back the clock day look by not supplying Bowling Green with the throwbacks in the same manner that Iowa outfitted Kent last season.UK Peregrine wrote:What's up with that?
