USA Today/Coaches Top 25 Poll--BGSU is #32
What would help is if Boise State can pull off the upset against Georigia and then beat Oregon State, then we beat Boise State after taking down Wisconsin.Jacobs4Heisman wrote:I like this ranking as far as team mindset goes. I like the underdog role for our guys as it seems like every time we get serious national recognition, we fall on our face.
The thing that bothers me is a BCS bowl is now pretty much out of the question even if we run the table. Utah started the year 18th last year and barely made it in. I don't think it's possible for a "mid-major" (gag) school to make it into the BCS from 32nd. Oh well, we can still run the table and give all the BCS schools ulcers in the process.
What gets me though is how NC State is ahead of BG at the moment after a losing record last season. Then again each year should be looked at differently. Just because someone was a losing team last year or a winner doesn't mean that will continue the trend.

it doesnt matter THAT much where we start, its about where we finish, i think if we beat Wisc we could slip into the top25 after the 1st week!
4th & 13 on PU 32yd line.. 56,000 fans up on their feet screaming, i held my breath the entire play trying to make as little noise as possible.. wouldnt u know Sharon would make the biggest touchdown catch in the history of BG Football, FALCON UP!

It seems pretty clear to me that a win over Wisconsin puts Bowling Green in the Top 25.
Boise State is already ranked; a 3-0 start for us could put us in the Top 15.
Then we'd have the rest of the season to try to keep moving up.
If we are in the top 15 after going 3-0, I'll eat your car =). Let's roll out a best case scenario.
Game 1 -- we smash wisconsin by 25. Depending on teams in front of us, that may get us around 25 or 26.
Game 2 -- We beat Ball State by 50. BFD, we move up 2 spots tops. That puts us at a generous 23.
Game 3 -- Meanwhile, Boise beats Georgia and OSU and is ranked around 13. We whoop up on Boise by about 20. That's a 23 beating a 13 on the road. Outside of seriously special circumstances like the next 10 teams ahead of us all losing in one week, there is no way a team without giant name recognition moves up to 15 in that case. I'd say about 18.
After that, It's all standing still and watching as other teams leapfrog us while we destroy a bunch of bottom feeders. Then we're around say 15 by the time we play Miami. From then on it's all rooting against the teams ranked 6-15 to lose, perhaps multiple times, and hoping we get through the miami Toledo Toledo mine field. If we go undefeated, I would put the chances of us in a BCS game at around 5% -- tops.
Luckily for all of us, I've been colossally wrong many times before and I hope I am again. All I can hope for is that we take care of our business. If we go undefeated I'll be happy playing in the Tokyo fujitsu tire bowl.
Roll Along!
Ditto for me too. Were are right where I thought we'd be in the poll (receiving votes). I'm concerned about every game we play, but I'm especially concerned about the November 15th game at Miami out of ANY game on our schedule. A MAC Championship and bowl game victory for BG are my hopes this year.mk455 wrote:mac championship and bowl game victory will satisfy this guy.

I really want to see us go undefeated, and I think we've got the talent to do so, but that's asking quite a bit. What I do EXPECT is a MAC title this year. Anything less is a disappointment.
I'd rather lose to Boise & Wisconsin and win all our MAC games than go 3-0 OOC and lose on November 15th and watch UT beat Miami for the MAC title...again.
No doubt hammb, and undefeated season would be a dream come true, but I don't except that. Frankly, it's asking much out on any team. But like you, I do expect a MAC Championship and bowl game win from this team, which is certainly obtainable.hammb wrote:Mine too.BGSU33 wrote:Ditto for me too. Actually Toledo had the next highest number of votes to win the MACC after BG, when voted upon by the MAC Media Association. Miami was 3rd and NIU was 4th.oaklane2 wrote:I realize this is preseason rankings but why are most people predicting the MACC either BG or Miami(oh) and they have NIU and TU ahead of Miami(oh).
Votes to win MACC Game:
Bowling Green - 22
Toledo - 10
Miami - 6
Northern Illinois - 4
BG had 241 points and 30 1st place votes to win the East Division, while Toledo had 237 points and 31 1st place votes to win the West Division as well.
