The Indians sell out every game for like eight years and these are fair weather fans? :coo-coo:
Yeah! They only sold out those games when they were competing for & winning division titles for those 8 years. In all the years prior and since their attendance has been abysmal.
This year they currently have the 3rd worst attendance in MLB ahead of only KC & Tampa Bay. And this is with a team that is 4 games over .500 and is in the thick of the wild card hunt.
Yes, I think Cleveland fans are pretty fairweather except for football. They'll support the Browns no matter what and that organization is clearly #1 in the hearts of Cleveland fans. Other than that though, they don't support the Indians unless their winning, and the same goes for the Cavs. They've had huge attendance the last 2 years, but before that nobody followed the Cavs.
I also must say that I'm pleasantly surprised that Columbus is ranked as high as it is (33), considering we don't have a pro football, baseball, or basketball team.

I wouldn't call the Indian fans fair weather. You have to remember that during much of the sell-out stretch, the Browns did not exist. People who laid out good money to watch the Browns then diverted there funds to go to Indians games. And now LeBron is in town so the dollars go to see him play. The economy of Cleveland does not support the fans ability to shell out cash to see all three of the local teams. IMO

Since Dallas is considered one of the fattest cities, I suppose the populace should at least excel at watching sports.
Always the Dallas hata RUIT. I am too lazy (surprise) to pull it up, but I read my husband's Men's Health magazine & there is a new list of cities that lose the most sleep. Dallas & Cleveland both got C's I think, and I am pretty sure Houston got an F. It had to do with stress and sleeplessness. I am high on the stress quotient & I sleep very little, so I am surprised I didn't drag us down lower.
And k-dog, you made me laugh on that one. But anyone who looks like today's guy on blog is welcome to look me up!
Indians fans are not by any means fair weather. The fact that they sold out entire seasons is incredible. Atlanta, Houston, Pittsburg, and several other cities couldn't even sell out World Series tickets when they played.
Entertainment dollars are very slim in Cleveland right now. Recently voted the poorest big city in the U.S.. Indians fans are everywhere. Just drive through the neighborhoods and you will see all the Indians signs and flags. Clevelanders will most likely say Browns first however we love the Tribe.
The money is just not here.
Cavs games were great this past year. Lebron is amazing.

I agree with Tampa. Cannot fill half the stadium for hockey. And well they will soon be what the Expo's once were. Avg about 5000 people for a baseball game. I go to Tampa for the girls, not to watch sports
Tampa whined about not having baseball then didn't support the team they stopped wanting before they got it.
They wouldn't support the football team when it got there, complained about the revived version not winning it all after it changed ownership, won't support the hockey team, lost their previous D1 football team before USF started to play the game, and the jury is out as to if they'll sport it now.
Tampa is the Toledo of Florida. Its a lousy cruise port too. The last hurricane took a sharp right and missed it last year because god figured nobody would miss it.
