SI.com's Top 15 gamebreakers

Post by Warthog »

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/multim ... ent.1.html

So what is a gamebreaker? I think it is that one special player that puts you on the edge of your seat every time they touch the ball. Usually a RB/WR type that returns kicks is who I have in mind. Well SI ranked their top 15. Reggie Bush #1, Ginn #2, not unexpected.

So, I wasn't expecting to see Omar as a "Gamebreaker" because he is a QB. Who else is on the list, you ask?
3. Vince Young
7. Reggie Mcneal :axe:
10. Brad Smith :vom:
11. Ryne Robinson, can't argue with this one.
12. Jared Zabransky
14. Chris Leak.

No Omar, Leinhart not on the list either. Maybe I am wrong here, but I would certainly considering Leinhart and Omar more of a "Gamebreaker" than Brad Smith or Reggie McNeal.

Who in the world is Ryne Robinson?

What is your problem with Brad Smith? Yes he choked last year, but I watched Smith drag Mizzou back to beat Nebraska two years ago. Smith can be a game breaker and is one, but last year the coaches screwed him up. (What do you expect from an EX Toledo coach!)

Reggie McNeal, just like Vince Young (& Smith) can break down a team with their legs. Omar is just not that type of Gamebreaker (And we are glad about that, at least I am.) Yes Omar can run when he has to, but if the line holds, he DOESN'T have to. :D

I know we all want Omar to get the attention he deserves, but I think it might be to his advantage and to the teams advantage for right now, that he isn't.

Ryne Robinson is the WR/PR for Miami(OH).

I wouldn't put Omar or Leinart on the list, personally. I'm thinking more along the lines of the guys who can do special things with their legs. Omar & Leinart are phenomenal QBs, but they are mostly dependant on their WRs. Guys like Brad Smith & Vince Young can make plays all on their own if need be. Omar moves pretty well, but he doesn't have the moves to do the things those guys can do.

Harris would've been more likely to be included on this sort of list, IMO.

Adrian Peterson is also off that list as is Deangelo Williams.

I don't take much stock in SI's information.

I mean they pretty well overlook BG in the Offense Revolution special they have running now as well.

Look through their top 10 gallery for "10 Key Moments in the Offensive Revolution."

I have stopped listening and reading to what the talking heads have to say about just about everything. They are only out to sell stuff, nothing more.

Just to be clear, I wasn't expecting Omar to be on the list nor was I saying he should be. But given the QBs that they did include, I was saying Omar is more of a gamebreaker than some of those.

I agree that it has more to do with guys who can run and throw. But Zabransky only had 326 rushing yards (Omar had 300) and he made the list. Z averaged all of 2.51 yards per carry (Omar averaged 3.16). How is that a gamebreaker? Just because he had 13 TDs rushing doesn't make him a gamebreaker. IMO.

(And I am not trying to diss Zabransky. In no way do I want to downplay how good of a QB he is because he could light us up for 350 yards passing and another 100 on the ground come Sep 21.)

Yeah, I was talking to my dad who is a big Ohio A&M fan tonight and we started talking about Ryne. My dad had never heard of him and I told him that the best comparison to another player that I can make with Ryne is, and I quote [myself]: "Ted Ginn with a brain." Oh how I make me laugh! :P

But seriously, the Aggies had better watch out for Miami. The Skinhawks are exactly the type of team that can make them look bad - real bad. Especially when everyone and their mother has such a huge b*n$r for the Texas game. I am hoping I get to see that game, and in some deep, dark corner of my mind that only gets a workout when I'm stuck in traffic, I'll be rooting hard for those Abercrombie losers.

That's JCrew. Get it right.

Oh, that Ryne comment is pretty funny. I doubt JT will allow OSU to punt to Ryne. After UM got cocky and did it thrice, and almost got scored on three times from it....

I'd love to see Miami's recievers and Omar.

What is everyone's problem with Smith? Upset that he didn't go to an Ohio School?
