I always go with my gut, even if makes me look stupid sometimes. Usually I am close though. My gut says:
BGSU 49
Wisconsin 30
I will be just as happy with a one point victory. Hopefully Timchenko does not have to kick any FG's in this one. We can break him in at Ball St
. I am sure this prediction looks ludicrous to some, especially Wisky fans but I really think our offense is going to be the shiznit this year. PLus it is a prediction, it means nothing when it comes down to it. We can score on anybody, and definitely on a team that lost all four of it's DL and 3 players in the secondary. I am sure the replacements are good players but they are in trouble in their first game. Like I have said before I think our defense will be a surprise. They may not be world beaters but they will hold their own for the most part. I think...

Prediction
My prediction is that we will hit town Friday about mid-afternoon. We will proceed to pub crawl Madison looking for BG fans and AZZ forum posters. We'll go to the pep rally at the Sheraton and flirt with the cheerleaders. I will kiss Frieda. I will sing Ay Ziggy Zoomba at the top of my lungs. We will try to make the pre-game bash, but most likely drink Kahlua and Coffee and get ready for the game. More tailgaiting....more tailgaiting...
Oh I almost forgot, BG 30 Badgerms 27 and on to the post game celebration!

I really feel this is going to be a statement game for BG. I think we have something to prove... there's all kinds of attention this pre-season, all kinds of hype, but we don't have a MAC championship to show for our past few years of success.
I think the team will smack Wisky up and down the field just so they can prove that the hype is legit...

But I agree....BG is gonna make a huge statement. I bet a Michigan fan here at work and gave him Wisky and 14 pts. He looked at me in total disbelief. "Are you on crack??"
No, I just believe BG is 2 td's better than Wisky this year...on their turf.
Must be that Big 11 mentality.

As someone familiar with the UW-System, and how it works, I could spend an hour going on about the misconceptions here. I won't.
Concerning the game, I see a 38-28 BG win.
A couple of reasons:
1) UW (no, not UWM-that is reserved for Milwaukee-which Marquette fans refuse to believe actually exists, that is how the jagoff Marquette fans refer to UW) lost its two best d-backs, and will have a lot of trouble stopping Jacobs, especially if Pope gets going. The linebackers are good, but will be forced to cover for a new line and drop back into coverage. Not a rosy scenario for the first game.
2) Stocco is a work in progress, and should be a lot better by the time Big 10 season rolls around, but he will struggle on Sept. 3.. He will start, since Savage and Donovan are not ready. This means a lot depends on Calhoun. He should be very good, but first game rust (especially after sitting out a year after transferring) will have an impact. The recievers are a mixed bag, and I don't think a mediocre qb plus a recieving corps that has a tendancy to hide (except for Daniels) will be good enough to take advantage of BG's weakest link. They will score, but not enough, and Stocco is prone to making big mistakes (see last year's Iowa game).
Looking forward to meeting some fellow BG alums and current students who will be in town for the game, and will try and see if others want to meet at one of the bars on Regent St. before the game (I don't do alumni events, I find the company at bars a higher quality).

Giving someone 14 points when the spread is 4.5 points the other way? Why??? I hope you're not betting anything substantial!
56-24? Say what?
I thought this was a board with logical people. This is going off the charts. Those folks on the Wisconsin board may be right about us being delusional (though I hope you guys turn out to be correct
)
I say BG 34 Wis 28

Omar Jacobs Will Light 'Em Up
I see Omar showing the nation that the hype was real by throwing 4 TD passes with relative ease & throwing for around 300 yds. The defense will have the bend but dont break mentality. The key for BG's D will be to limit wisky to field goals. If they are able to run on us down to the 10 yard line then so be it, but the falcons D will make it very difficult to get into the endzone all day. The Badgers continue to miss opportunities, just play a sloppy game and are able to get a late touchdown make it look a lil close........BGSU 35 Wisconson 27.
And to get more in depth: after the 1st quarter it's 14-7 BG. At the half 21-17 BG, and at the end of 3, 28-20 BG.

I don't like the idea of the alumni event being $25 AND a cash bar. The $25 alone is a six pack and a handful of brats on the streets, I figure. I think the big event we should "plan" (and feel free to make a good suggestion, BTG) is Friday night somewhere. It seems like everyone will be in town by then and have more time to socialize.

Ding!! I have a winner! Even on my luxurious (haaa!!!) academic staff salary, that is a bit much. That $25 is two brats and six glasses of Leinie's Creamy Dark at State Street Brats after the win.
I would love to come down from Point Friday night, but will probably not get that one by my wife. I am thus left with waking my ass up at 5:30 or so to make it to Madison by 7:30 Saturday morning. However, I can provide a list of bars to go to Friday night, or if anyone will be around Friday afternoon, I would love to pop down and meet some people--that I can get away with. I will be doing research at UW library if need be. 8) 8)
