Wisconsin Game hotel?
Wisconsin Game hotel?
Is anyone staying over in Madison on Saturday night to celebrate beating Wisconsin? I will be heading to the game from Philadelphia to meet some other BG alum. I was wondering if anyone or most people are staying at a hotel? any suggestions would be helpful. I have been checking out orbitz. thanks

Re: Wisconsin Game hotel?
Great to hear lots of you will be at the Sheraton. It should be a good party Friday night! We hope to meet other Falcons at bars in the afternoon and early eve before the bash that night. I'll be at the Sheraton with a buddy, but I also have a room at the Fluno Center that I didn't cancel yet. If anybody needs that room due to no vacancy elsewhere, let me know. It's a first class hotel (stayed there before) walking distance to the stadium and in the middle of pub crawl area. Pre-game BG event is at the hotel too.mmr wrote:Is anyone staying over in Madison on Saturday night to celebrate beating Wisconsin? Joyce and I are staying at the Crown Plaza, part of a '"package deal" thru Priceline...one of our Wisky friends says this is fairly close to the airport but also NOT far away from downtown Madison...so I'm hoping we'll be able to get to the Sheraton on Fri. nite to meet other Falcon Fans...as to Sat.? Wherever the victory party is, we'll try to be.SW-MI Falcon wrote:Great to hear lots of you will be at the Sheraton. It should be a good party Friday night! Crowne Plaza on East Washington?
That's all relative. If it's the one I'm thinking of, I stayed there on a visit to Madison a few years ago. Frankly I thought the Holiday was far nicer, but . . .Crown Plaza, part of a '"package deal" thru Priceline...one of our Wisky friends says this is fairly close to the airport but also NOT far away from downtown Madison.
nevertheless, the CP on East Wash is about as far away from Camp Randall as you can get and still be in Madison.
Not to worry - it's a straight shot west on E. Wash to the Capitol Square. As I've posted here before, you can park around the Square then stroll west to CR, or take a bus.
If you want to park closer, you can. Go early. Drive around the CR area and look for parking signs. Pay the owner to park in his driveway, or lawn.
After living in the NY area for nearly thirty years, I find driving in Madison to be a snap, but the locals hate anything approaching heavy traffic so they tend to complain about a 15 minute delay.
Bring back the Bucky Wagon, and

Thanks for the update...I've had a hard time with the mapquest stuff finding E. Wash. in relation to CR....this helps a lot....even though it now sounds like it'll be a longer drive.... plan right now to take buses or cabs as opposed to renting a car for just Fri-Sun. That may change, but I think we'll do it that way for now.

We got rooms at the Double Tree (i think it use to be something else) but appears to be a few blocks from the stadium and close to the state street bars. They are $135 sat night and they have rooms avilable still. if any one is interested, their number is 608-251-5511. some people mentioned there is a BG event before the game? where is this? also, is there an event scheduled for celebrating after the game?? does everyone have a bar in mind to meet after the game? im going to be a target at the game wearing all orange!!!

Maybe we can "share a ride" to the game...don't know if you're driving yourself, but if not , sharing a cab beats paying for it by yourself.

We're at the DoubleTree as well. $135? How many people is that? They quoted us at $165 a night for "four"mmr wrote:We got rooms at the Double Tree (i think it use to be something else) but appears to be a few blocks from the stadium and close to the state street bars. The University/Alumni Assoc. has an event either Friday night or Saturday AM, but it's $25 AND a cash bar. No thanks.
While I'm here, do either of our Wisky "tour guides" (BigApple and Brian) know of any decent golf courses around? We might be lugging the sticks with us and had looked at the University course, but might try to find something cheaper to play a round Friday, Sunday or Monday.

cool! i've been quoted!"...that's just PS2-insane -- and he was only a Sophomore!" -Boise State fan
i remember posting that on broncocountry about omar awhile back. the guy's a flat-out gamer, and i can't wait to see him on the Blue.
though Zabransky's not bad, either.
it's refreshing to stop by an opposing team's board and see such positive football talk. our upcoming game with Georgia has unleashed a large number of dawg trolls on our board reminding us of how Idaho is only good for farming and hockey and how our cute little team won't last three minutes in that thick-as-our-skulls humidity in athens and where is Boise isn't that in canada?
anyway, stop by our board any time and say hi...

would be great to start chatting with you guys about our home opener against BGSU instead of our away opener against UGA.
Yeah, and I still haven't gotten my payment for that, buddy!1boisebro wrote:cool! i've been quoted!"...that's just PS2-insane -- and he was only a Sophomore!" -Boise State fan![]()
It's cool to have such big games against "big schools" and I think we've only had two or three serious "trolls" come through here. (At least since I came around in 2003.) If you guys ever play Oklahoma and a guy named "CaliSooner" comes knockin, get your ball bats out early!

Golf...
University Ridge is a really nice course, and there are a couple others that you could look into as well, BlackHawk and Yahara (best man from my wedding was a groundskeeper there). There is one more, where my sister used to a beverage cart girl at (no jokes, please) while she was at UW, but I can't remember the name. I'll give her a call and she could probably give some good info on it.
I'll post more on this later, and hopefully can put something up about the bars around the stadium for Saturday morning festivites, since the bars on State Street usually don't open early enough.
