Huggins out in Cincy
Its not too late for the coaching dominos to fall and for us to lose Dakich.
I thought the same thing, but when the dominoes fall, it's not as simple as "Cincy needs a coach and Dakich would never go there..." SOMEONE has to fill that UC spot, and if it ends up being a coach bailing for greener pastures, or a chance at coaching a team in a solid hoops conference, things happen. Then all of a sudden, say a job at a reputable school opens up and someone like... oh... Mike Davis decides he doesn't want to coach at Indiana under the microscope this year, then even if he does well, hear about letting Greg Oden slip away next year... suddenly the IU job opens up and... well... you know.Warthog wrote:If he left WVU after a couple days because he found out what was going on there, do you really think he should even waste his time thinking about following Huggins at Cincy?:coo-coo:
Alot of ifs and crazy scenarios, but who thought that DD would be coaching BG today after he packed his bags to hang with the mountain folk?

Dominoes would imply more than Dakich going directly to Cincy. Please apologize for the end statements. I would like to have some of the Kool-Aid that some of you are serving that think that Dan Dakich is remotely near the short list of candidates at IU should they part ways with Mike Davis. Granted, they have done some strange things over the years, like hire an unknown such as Davis in the first place, but losing 15 or so players in 7 years does not get you mentioned in the Big Ten very often, but like I said . . . stranger things have happened.

Dakich to IU is much more plausible than either Dakich or Davis to Cincinnati. I would gamble that Dakich is not on many schools short lists after he went to WV then left and then with the number of transfers sense he came back.
How badly would the all transfer team beat the non-transfer team since his return?
What would those lineups look like?

I think you guys will be alright. I'm more concerned that UC will take a run at one of the Duke assistants (Johnny Dawkins, Chris Collins, or Wojo), as hiring one of them would probably be one of the clearest statements Zimpher could make that she wants the program to clean up its act but still be competitive in the Big East.

Merely stating scenarios where we lose a coach that doesn't involved Dakich to UC, because that's what was presented. I don't think he's going anywhere in the next year or two, regardless of his stock in the coaching community. Maybe there's more than a couple dominoes that lead to a program having an opening that would be a better fit. <insert shrugging smiley here>
