Morning Maureen. Great name. Wife's name is Maureen. A little off topic, since this is in the football section. But the rapid progression of Nolan Reimold is a pretty big story. I know he is still quite a ways to the major leagues, but maybe an update of Nolan, Burke, and how they are adjusting to minor league baseball on and off the field.

We are looking forward to a fresh look at Falcon Sports! As has been stated, it's a great year to be here. You should find a few things about which to write.

Oh, and by the way. We're not all guys. There are some of "us girls" in this little underground network...

But we like the guys!
What she said!! This "she" welcomes you to AZZ also!!! I have enjoyed your articles, so keep up the great work!!

If you hang out here enough, you will see who the hardcore fans are from BG. .....so here's a story idea.....feature the passionate AZZ crowd, especially Grant, who started the board and our beloved Freak!!! You don't get any more hardcore than him!!! He has Falconitis to the MAX! I mean really, the guy drives from AKRON to see a PRACTICE!!!! (We love you, Freak!!). Join us at the AZZ tent at the Ohio game!!!!!

And again, Welcome to AZZ and keep up the great work!!

(How many minutes 'til the kickoff, Freak????)
Oh, FF! You bring a tear to my eye. Tis True....I have Falconitis and I never want cured. BTW, right now there are 13,035 minutes til kickoff in Madison!

Maureen,
I think your articles have been excellent so far! Living in Akron, I have no luck getting the Beacon Journal to cover the MAC. Even with Kent and Akron right there, its always Ohio State this and Ohio State that.
Thank goodness I can read the Blade online everyday for Falcon coverage, no matter what sport cuz I follow all of them. Football is king, though...by a mile.
So good to see you stop by the site...our tailgate crowd is a riot and we always have a great time.
Hope to meet you at a game soon. Keep up the great work. BTW, I'm sure Falcon Fanatic, BGFan and the hockey crazies would love to see more icer coverage. I know I would!

GO FALCONS!!!

Maureen - this might be interesting to you

Jeff Potrykus, of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinal, has had some dialog with Badger fans on the Badgermaniac board.

His BLOG:

Are you attending the game in Madison?

If you are, I'd predict you'll enjoy the trip and the atmosphere.

However, a fair number of Ohio State folks have complained (shrilly) about their Madison experiences. You might consider a side piece.
Bring back the Bucky Wagon, and
ON, WISCONSIN!

Welcome!

As no one has really suggested a story idea so far...I'll throw one out there.

Why is eveyone overlooking PJ Pope? He is on pace to become the all-time leading Falcon rusher this season and has definite pro potential with the right team.

Show the Popester some love!!!

Hello again everyone.

Warthog: the Blade hired a new sports editor, Frank Corsoe, around the same time I started. He moved some people around and that coupled with vacations has lessened the pro baseball coverage. But long-term I think we’re still going to make an effort with the Tigers/Tribe.

Macman: I will pass your BCS feelings onto our columnists.

DDuncan: Toledo definitely loves its minor league baseball so more of those types of stories would probably be good. Since Burke is a local guy we would be more apt to do something on him; Nolan probably not until next year.

Freak: I am going to try to have more hockey coverage this year. Lots of compelling stories there.

Bucky: I am going to the game, can’t believe it’s just a little more than a week away. I’m sure the teams feel the same way. I saw UW was ranked the No. 1 party school, but I'll probably just try to stay out of the way.

Redwingtom: Maybe, just maybe there will be a P.J. Pope article coming up soon here … =).

Thanks everyone for the feedback! It was all great. Keep it coming throughout the year.

I have a question Maureen

What do you think about Ron Musselman? You can be honest, he doesn't check these boards.

Thank you for the lack of coverage around baseball!!! It is a dying sport. You know it's bad when Wrestling and Nascar are more popular than baseball. Maybe you could do a story sometime about BGSU soccer ;)

You are completely wrong. Baseball is as popular as ever, and continues to set attendance records on a semi-regular basis. Minor League baseball is even more healthy and is definitely setting attendance records almost yearly.

Baseball is not quite as popular as football, but its a close second.

I have to respectfully disagree with you there. My ranking of the most popular sports:

1) Football
2) Basketball
3) Nascar
4) Probably baseball

With all the steroids issues going on in baseball, I think more and more people are being turned off rather than back to the sport. That's just my opinion, but baseball being a close second to football I have a hard time buying ;)

You also have to keep in my mind that baseball plays ten times as many games as the NFL and two times as much as NBA, and they still get 20,000 or more a game. Multiplied by 162. That is a lot of people.

Define "most popular"

Are you talking about most popular sport as far as people who play the sport? That woudl be 1.soccer, 2. swimming Last- NASCAR

Or highest attendance?

Or most t.v. ratings?

Or most money generated?

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."
