At worst, everyone seems to be giving this the “BG really could win this game” treatment. Some folks in the national media are putting their money where their typing fingers are and picking a BG win outright. This game is so winnable, I’ll be fairly disappointed if they don’t win. Fortunately, win or lose, the streets of Madison will have beers waiting for me afterwards, but they’ll go down so much smoother with a “W”. On the field, Wisconsin has some question marks, and as long as BG can establish that they’re here to play, they should be all right. If they go up a couple scores, Wisky fans might be thumbing through the Michael Hutchence handbook before the fourth quarter starts. Prediction? BG 37, Wisconsin 24

...and please leave the "rain must fall" in Ohio this weekend, I'm looking at 75, sunny, beers, brats, cheese, and a BG win!

Six "major" conferences, times about 12 schools apiece... 72 times.

Although we've got about a half dozen of those down, and we don't have to count Indiana, so 65 more times?

Because really, Vanderbilt's stadium is like no place this team has played in.

ZuluWarrior and I are in agreement here....I've been stuck on a 41-27 win for the last 5 months.

One thing I think to really watch is our D ends. I was talking with Coach Durkin at the Kickoff Reception (great seeing everyone as ususal!) and he said Parks has been a monster in camp. He and Williams are quick, strong and gonna disrupt an awful lot of backfields in '05. Talking with The Fabulous Teddy Piepkow was very cool as well. Teddy has gotten bigger and his freakin forearms look like Mitch Hewitt's.

BTW, our d goes up against a big ole O line every day in practice. I think they'll be able to handle the punishment Wisky's O line can dish out.

Omar shows the nation why he is a Heisman Trophy candidate as the Badgers simply won't be able to cover every BG weapon....who do you key on???? Trev "Douchemonkey" Alberts screams about BG's gimmicky Offense on Gameday trying to describe the BG win.

Prediction

Post by Oscoe »

UW 27
BG 24

Here's what's gonna' happen: UW will let BG chuck it up and down the field all day between the 20's, playing lots of deep zone and cover2 and keeping everything in front of them. But when the O gets down around the 20 or 15, BG will have a tough time scoring (as most spread offenses do). They will force BG to try and kick FG's, and I believe you have an unproven kicker. Result: BG will have over 500 yds of offense, but not many points to show for it.

UW on O. will definitely run a lot and play ball-control, but not as much as you may think. They will sprinkle in passes to the TE's, RB's, FB's and WR's. UW may not get a ton of yardage from scrimmage, but they will get quite a bit of "hidden" yardage on ST's, which will give them some short-field advantages.

Taylor Melhaff will have his coming out party as he nails both of his FG opportunities to help carry the day for UW.

Also...do not underestimate the UW defense. Even though they lost all their starters on DL, most of the young new starters saw considerable action last year, and the OL have been saying from camp they don't see much drop-off from last year's NFL group. The LB's run like DB's, and are BY FAR the quickest group UW has ever had here. The secondary is obviously somewhat of a question mark, but UW goes 7 - 8 deep there, and they will use ALL of them in this game....#1 to keep them fresh, and #2 to get quality experience against an excellent O.

This game is going to be awefully entertaining -- a real chess match between the opposing coaches. Even if the Badgers lose, the Falcons will have provided a good "test of fire" for our young defense that will really prepare them for the rest of the season. That said, I still think Bucky wins a close one. For those of you making the trip to Madtown, enjoy the "new" stadium and the gameday atmosphere.....I think it's one of the best around.
On, Wisconsin!

Wow Oscoe...what a prediction. Unlike the typical "spread offense" though, we can actually run the ball. We will have no problem scoring inside the 20.

Same as it was in the last prediction thread...
BG 38
Wisky 20

We will have no problem inside the twenty, especially when the Popemobile lines up at QB!

But of course, you know we do that, Oscoe. With that analysis, you have obviously watched countless hours of our game film.

I think Oscoe raises some realistic possibilites. I will respect his/her opinion.

But.....
We will be inside the Wisconsin 20 on about 12 or 13 drives, so if we only score TDs on half of those and Timchenko goes 3 for 6 on FG attempts, that still gets us 51 points!

Sure the possibilites that Oscoe raised could happen but I think we simply have too many weapons to cover. Wisky's young LM may be talented but they are young. BG's offense has some upperclassmen that have been there.

41-27, Falcons.

1st quarter: Barry Alvarez considers retiring to become AD at half-time.
2nd quarter: Freddie creams Bonzo the Badger in the mascot fight.
3rd quarter: Barry makes teams change shoes because he just signed a new shoe contract.
4th quarter: Richie and the Fonz show up in women's nightgowns being chased by Ralph and Potsie who have taken the panty raid to new heights. Towel snapping ensues on the Wisconsin sideline.

Two reasons this cannot happen. Home team mascots always win the fights. Our mascots can no longer fight as last year, there was a real fight and one ended up getting physically hurt.
