BGSU players in the NFL
I just added a new page to the VanDelaySports.com site listing former MAC players in the NFL. Feel free to check it out and let me know if my info is accurate![/url]
Looks good, though I have no idea who Ryan Diepenbrock is or when he played at BG. Am I mistaken? Am I a bad fan?

I believe Diepenbrock was around BG in the late 1990's. A smaller linebacker that turned himself into a long snapper in his attempt to play in the NFL. I believe there was a really good article on his longsnapping in the BG News when he was originally trying out for the Bills (2002 or so?). Somebody tell me if I'm way off here.TG1996 wrote:Looks good, though I have no idea who Ryan Diepenbrock is or when he played at BG. Am I mistaken? Am I a bad fan?
You could be right. The name sounds vaguely familiar, but I think I was thrown off by the "rookie" status on his NFL players page. Being a rookie doesn't necessarily mean its your first year out of college. He originally signed as a free agent with Buffalo in 2001, apparently:BGGrad01 wrote:I believe Diepenbrock was around BG in the late 1990's. You are correct. Ryan was the long snapper on the team right before Urban came here. Fantastic young man, who mentored one of my students in Findlay while he was on the team. Can't say enough about what a great kid he is!!! By now, should have graduated from dental school, which he pursued after leaving Buffalo. He gets back here for a game or two each year. He was from Lima, and attended dental school at OSU, I believe.BGGrad01 wrote:I believe Diepenbrock was around BG in the late 1990's. "Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

accurate
So it seems as though my list is pretty accurate.
We will be launching the first week of Nick's Picks 2005 this week on the VanDelaySports.com site. I'll be sure to post when it's live online.
Oh, and I'm pretty sure Nick's got BG picked over 'sconsin.

Last word I heard on Ryan he was almost done with school, and he is also getting married. I am not quite sure if he has graduated or not, but I do know that the wedding hasn't happened yet. As a long snapper, he was one of the best in the country. He was a smart enough person to realize that his niche would be long snapping. He was an invited walk on when he came to BG.

Not to surprising on Suisham's or Patton's parts. Hopefully Shaun did enough to get noticed by another team. And Janssen is an NFL Europe exemption, so it was highly unlikely he would be cut in this first round of cuts. Most projections don't look good for Patton eitherl, but you never know.Jacobs4Heisman wrote:http://www.steelers.com/article/56312/
Suisham cut by Pittsburgh. Patton survives first cut.
