I think they stink. 10$ to bring in one guest and you can't bring the same guest twice. I think I'll ask for my money back.

What're these rules in relation to? I've received nothing that I can recall to indicate such things.....

Colleague of mine just showed me a card he got in the mail. The more onerous parts appear to be that we can only have one guest in the Falcon Club tent at football games and he/she must pay 10$. Moreover, we cannot bring the same guest twice -- so no wives or pals repeatedly brught in. Seems they're trying to get an extra hundred out of families, but it's pretty alienating and may end up costing membership.

I would agree if that's the case.... I don't often go into the FC tent anyway, but if I do...and want to bring Joyce with me each time...that borders on the ridiculous..... I wouldn't object to a "small" charge i.e $2-3 bucks for a non-member, but $10? And she couldn't come with me EVER again? hopefully, this is just a misinterpretation....but if not, the FC has made a big mistake.

If this is true, it was likely implemeted to stop the free-loaders who drown themselves in beer and popcorn (and drown the athletic budget) game after game with no intention to ever support the Falcon Club and the worthy scholarship money they provide to student-athletes at BG.

Seeing these ingrates, often wearing other teams colors, gorge themselves in beer and enjoy the benefits of membership under the cloak of their holy status as "guests" is the only disappointing sight at otherwise entertaining, exciting games.

The standard defense of these mooches is always "Well, don't you want to attract new members?" If accomodating these type of people game after game simply to pry $50 dollars out of their pocket to support BG athletics is the price, this university doesn't need their support. Money doesn't grow on trees, and it certainly doesn't need to be wasted in courting wishy-washy lushes interested more in beer kegs than the most exciting offense in college football.

I'd charge $30. Join the club, do your part or stay out!

I think you're looking at this from the wrong angle.... SHE COULDN'T COME WITH YOU EVER AGAIN! Run her in there for the first game, and you've got a safe haven for the rest of the season. It's brilliant!!!

I think you can let the Falcon Club office know that your membership is a family membership and you won't have the problem you believe you are going to have. The purpose is not to crank more money out of member families. I think you're right about casting off the mooches.

You can bring your spouses to the pavillion every game. I believe this rule was put into place for several reasons. One probably being to make being a member of the Falcon Club special. As mentioned in a previous post, too many people were enjoying the benefits of being a member without ever joining. Additionally, if you pay $10, it can be applied towards membership.

I say kudos to the Falcon Club for making this rule. I was sick and tired of seeing people take advantage of the pavillion for free when I rightfully have paid to be there.

Our Falcon Club membership says "Mrs. and Mrs. Former Freddie." So technically, we're both members and I would never have to pay to bring her with me.

As an occasional "moocher" in the past (although I think I always just enjoyed the view, the beer was supplied from my pockets

), I'm kind of glad they made this rule. Ten bucks is reason enough to keep me out of the tent and sitting up in the stands where I can actually watch the game. I watched the Balls Tate game from the tent and never really felt like I was "at" the game. The only thing I might miss are those heaters, which could be worth the $10 by the time Nov. 22 rolls around!

Look, I'm no fan of people in other teams' colours free-loading off the FC tent, but I do like to bring a few friends down from Detroit for games and getting them in the tent is part of the fun. The one guy is a season ticket holder at MSU and he was very impressed by the FC tent and location. He said for a hundred bucks you didn't even get parking at MSU.

You mention the cost of the FC. Are a few glasses of Coors light realy that expensive?

We have a lot of other problems.

The tent is a benefit of being a member. Keeping the tent more exclusive is the goal of this measure. The tent should be used as a recruitment method to bring perspective Falcon Club members in- pay $10 and apply that toward their membership.

The Falcon Club tent is again a benefit. If you want to impress out of towners and show them a good time this should be done at a tent outside of the stadium because by bringing in extra people (not saying you do this prof., but I have worked the tent/events and KNOW people abuse the rules) you are putting them in front of (literally in line!) paying members.

I think the rules are good and should promote more memberships and enhance the benefits enjoyed by members.

Also, of note is the Young Alumni membership, heck Hammb if you don't drop $50 to join the Falcon CLub I might call you falcon crazy!

I see both sides of this issue.

I don't usually go into the tent during the games cuz the Freaklings wanna run around and do the jumping pits. But I can see how the cost needs to be addressed. Afterall, this is the Falcon Club. And the Club has stipulations on who can be there and how any potential members can join. You can knock the $10 off you FC donation!
Mrs Freak and I both have cards this year.

Best thing to do? Join up and become part of the FC while helping OUR student-athletes. In the end, it's all about them!!

They have a $50 membership? I think I'll be looking into that. I've been seriously considering joining, I think I'll have to look into it a little further.

NEW FALCON CLUB PAVILION POLICY FOR 2005

* Due to the increased number of guests to the Pavilion and to maintain member benefits, we are initiating a guest fee of $10 per person/per game for guests of members. (Spouses & children of members are considered members)

* Members & guests will need to check in and pay at the entrance to the Pavilion and fill out a guest pass. As always, we encourage guests to join. They will be able to deduct the guest fee from their Falcon Club membership, should they decide to do so.

* A member may bring the same guest only one time per season.

* Children of guests under 18 years will be free.
