Possible BAD sign for attendance.....

Post by Falconboy »

Gas prices. No one has thought of that yet. Our alums to the east in Cleveland where we have most of our alumni supposedly and any others that live hours away will find it hard to make a 2 and 1/2 hr or more to drive to the Doyt to see us pummle Ohio and Western Michigan to smithereens and maybe even Temple. This could be a bad sign. How many rabid fans do we have that will spend 80 bucks or more on gas to drive to a Falcon game? This is just a fear I have and hope it nothing comes of it , but its something to think about if home attendance drops again this year. :-\

Again with the sky falling...

There is no way in this decade it will ever cost $80 in gas to get from Cleveland to BG and back. Well, unless we scrap the dollar altogether and start using oil for currency. I imagine that could get quite messy in the pocket, though...

But yet they'll shell out $50 per ticket and pay some exorbitant parking fee to go see a Division III football team play at Cleveland Brows Stadium on 8 Sunday afternoons. That's ridiculous!

Well, since The freak bought a new SUV, I think we can start the count at 1.

At $3.19 a gallon now........

At some places , thats got to factor in alot of peoples minds when determining whether or not to drive 2 hrs to see us pound an inferior team into submission. Listen I like and dont' mind see it but we all know why attendances has gone into the crapper, bad teams with near guarranted victories in a not particularly great game environment.

All the more reason to kick Alumni chapters into gear and form carpools to games. I know that at least one game in BG I will hopefully be riding up with UK :D plus the game in Miami. I am also trying to slide in another game (WMU or akron) under the guise of bringing the kids to grandma's. Two birds, one stone, and hopefully gas money for the trip home.

You constantly complain about things yet you don't provide solutions and most often are part of the problem.

Look on the bright side. If we, as fans, emulate our DL and are undersized, then we could squeze out a little better gas mileage from our vehicles. :D

LOL!! The new Ford "Freakstyle" is pretty decent on gas. If I keep it between 60-65 mph, I can get almost 30 miles to the gallon on the highway. Not too shabby! Sure it takes a little longer to get to the game but when I'm driving 2 hours and 15 minutes one way, what's another 10-20 minutes?

The Freakstyle's first game is @Ball State.

that would be pathetic if they don't come for that. I'm a poor, out of state, college student and I'm driving up to Madison. No excuses for missing a weekend game. I could understand missing a mid week game, I don't plan on going to Boise, but we have school, and other people have jobs then.

If spending a few extra dollars on gas isn't worth coming to see BG, well, then you're crazy. I'd easily pay 10 a gallon to make a two hour trip one way to see BG play! Gas prices suck, no doubt, but not enough to make me consider not going to a BG game five times at home. That's just my two cents.

bgsu33, yeah but we are talking about people that are not as big of fans as people like you. The people on the fence will be less likely to go. I plan on going to 9-10 games this year missing Boise and maybe Ball st.
