This Badger's take on the game
I have to say that I agree with most posters on this board that the Falcons will win the game easily. My predicted final score: 84 – 3. Yes, OJ goes 52 for 52 and throws for 642 yards in the first half. The inexperienced and hapless Wisconsin defense is, well, defenseless against the multitude of looks thrown at them by Bowling Green. The bumbling Badger offense, led by the less-than-mediocre John Stocco, is unable to score until the fourth quarter when the Falcons just line up their defense along the sideline and let Wisconsin go unopposed. Unable to convert on a third and long, the Badgers settle for 42 yard field goal with 1:52 left in the game.
Seriously folks, I find it somewhat ironic that many of you don’t like the idea of a “major” school thinking a “mid-major” would be an easy game. You (understandably) don’t like that condescending attitude…then many of you predict a blowout by the Falcons. Hmmm…. A couple have hedged on their predictions, but all of you have predicted a win tomorrow. Overlooking an opponent, assuming a weak opponent and an easy victory…remind you of any other group of fans??
Of course I think the Badgers will win; but then I think they will win (or are capable of winning) every game. My predicted score?? How about fort…no…ah…thirt…twen…oh, who knows??
I'll be back, and crow will be involved; as a noun (as in "to eat crow") or a verb (e.g. take that suckas).

Re: This Badger's take on the game
Uh....no one is not taking you badgers seriously. Quite the contrary. We all know that your are still a B10 team with big players with the main difference between you and us being the D-line ,but we still feel confident' we can win. Dont' bother getting bent out of shape over posters that think we'll win by 40pts cuz thats just not realistic in the slightest. But I think its fairly accurate to describe most B10 teams and most other BCS'ers to have a superiority complex. Its just who you guys are. Just take this note ,we won't be satisfied with a close loss like in the past. We fully expect our team to give great effort and be able to win the game like you fully expect your team to do as well.TaxidiaTom wrote:I have to say that I agree with most posters on this board that the Falcons will win the game easily. Tom no need to eat crow. Doesn't taste well anyway. Most of us are just looking for a good game tomorrow.
You need to understand that one of the dynamics at play here is that for years we have been the proverbial 97 lb weakling that everyone expects to beat.
Now over the last 4 years we've been ranked in the top 25 the last 3 years, are 3-1 against the Big Ten, and are nearly even money on any line. That's a lot of progress for a program, and the fans that have sat on the sidelines in rain and snow storms through 42-3 losses with about 378 other people to root this team on, are now pretty proud of the fact that BG is getting some national recognition.
The idea that we're going to come into your house and beat you 42-0 is probably completely irrational. Are we going to win 35-21, or lose 42-28? Who knows...that's why we play the game.
Just keep in mind that for every Bucky fan that is offended that we think we'll win by more than a score, there is a BG fan offended by the fact that many in Wisconsin don't think we are anything other than a mid-major.
Reminds me of a racist comment. Either we are all division 1 schools or we aren't. That's what grates on the "Mid-Majors" Some of the best of each of the "Mid-Major" conferences have proven time and again they can play with anyone in the country. Do we have our bottom feeders? Sure. But then what the heck in Indiana and Illinois, or Vandy, or Wake Forest.
I don't know who's going to win tomorrow. I hope for a BG victory, but that's why we play the games right? I guess you can't get to keyed up about those little boys and girls and their big dreams when you know your juggernaut it going to crush them anyway right? Or is it that there might be just a touch of fear that your juggernaut might not be all it's cracked up to be?

I'll add a couple of thoughts here
Wisconsin is 1 -0 all-time against Bowling Green
Wisconsin is 23 - 2 all-time against the Mid-American Conference
As head coach, Barry Alvarez is 12 - 0 against Mid-American Conference teams.
Barry Alvarez has gone 11 - 4 in season openers and 13 - 2 in home openers.
Wisconsin is almost like a home underdog in this game. We're just really tough as a home dog. All the national pundits are predicting a BGSU win. That just gives me, based on long experience following this team, a very good feeling. (From a UW POV)
I'll just say this. If the Falcons lose tomorrow, please don't get too down on your team. It's still a great team. You'll have another big stage to play on out in Boise in a couple of weeks.

All those stats are nice.
How many MAC teams has Wisky beaten on the road?
I'll just say this. If the Badgers lose tomorrow, please don't get too down on your team. It's still a Big 10 team. You'll have another big stage to play on thru the Big 10 season.
Maybe the whole nation is predicting a BG win cuz BG is the better team.
I know that gets on the "BCS Boys" nerves that a lowly "mid major" is that good...get used to it. Teams like BG, Boise State, Fresno State, Miami, NIU, Toledo and others play to win every game. The 85 schollie limit is starting to close the gap.
Falcons 41, Badgers 27.

Neither offended or bent
I really haven't been offended by the predictions on this board (hence I'm not "bent out of shape"). I just see some irony. But I could be wrong, it's happened before. And, btw, I think my first paragraph was pretty funny; that's the way it was intended. Sorta like when Minnesota State played Whatsamatta U, and when WU didn't show up MS scored "almost at will." Anybody remember that? Or am I dating myself?? Rocky and Bullwinkle showed up to save the day.

Re: Neither offended or bent
You know what? There is no irony going on here. What is happening is a bunch of fans of a VERY good D1 football team are talking about our confidence in our team. Most fans of a lot of BCS programs do this on a weekly basis, but the second fans of a "mid-major" program dare to express confidence in their team, BCS fans have to cry foul and begin talking down to the "mid-major" fans like they are children.TaxidiaTom wrote:I really haven't been offended by the predictions on this board (hence I'm not "bent out of shape"). I for one don't give a crap what Wisconsin fans think about the speculating that is going on here. If I cared to see what Wisconsin fans think, I'd go to a Wisconsin board. You Wisconsin fans have been nice (for the most part) for quite a while now, but it seems that as the game has gotten closer, national pundits are beginning to DARE pick BG over a Big11 team, and the spread is growing narrower by the day, a lot of you are retreating back to your sarcastic, condescending BCS stance. To me, it says a lot -- you're fans are scared. How do you rationalize losing to a "mid-major?"
I hope you all figure it out by tomorrow.

Re: I'll add a couple of thoughts here
The last thing that any of us will do is get down on our team. Like Mich said, most BG fans were fans before the team started to rock the field. One loss isn't going to turn us against our team or cause our support to lessen. Of course it's disappointing when your team loses, but I don't think any BG fans could be considered fair-weather fans.BigAppleBucky wrote:I'll just say this. Re: I'll add a couple of thoughts here
I'd like to think thats true, but unfortunatly I think there are more than a fair number who believe football in BG started with UM. I hope not to see any of the these type threads come saturday night, But I would really hate to see a "10 reasons why are defensive line isn't good" thread. A loss will be a dissapointment on saturday, but it doesn't hurt our season in terms of the real prize, A MAC championshipGodsgirlerific wrote:The last thing that any of us will do is get down on our team.
