POSITIVES from the game

Post by BGDrew »

Corey was the leading reciever with 160 yards receiving.

Omar looked good and put up impressive numbers for a loss. 29/50 for 440, 4 TDs and a single picked, aka, a career day.

The team knows what they got to improve on, and the game tape is going to help teach some of the things they missed in camp. (like how to wrap up and drive to tackle)

Sanders is going to be a good deep ball threat when he's able to get seperation.

Feel free to add to this list.

Appears to be real hitter. Liked his big hit on Stocco.

I thought our offensive line looked at least comparable to last years unit. We were able to run the ball effectively when we tried. The pass protection needs some work but we won't see athletes like that on the d-line the rest of the year. I was slightly worried that the right side of the line would be average. They look to be just fine, even though they are not nearly as solid as the left side. Warren and lichtensteiger looked pretty impenetrable. By the time we hit the 2 games that matter, our O-line should be a real force.

Omar has not lost a step. Only spot that needs fine tuning is a "leading" deep ball. Cory, Steve and Charles are on point, and the line will just get better.

I liked the fact that we saw more downfield passes. That was a common criticism in the past on this board. There were quite a few attempts to go up and over. I hope that continues this season. There will be some big payoffs once in awhile, and it will keep opponents on their toes even when those longer throws don't connect. Defenses just need to know that we can and will try it.

Agree 100%. They were blitzing us and using man coverage all day. You can beat that by either making a quick hot receiver or chucking it deep. Rather than take the 5 yard dump offs that would've been readily available we took 'em deep. I definitely liked that.

On the whole our offense was superb.
