williams and memphis
D. Williams' heisman campaign off to a rough start -- he has under 50 yards with 10 minutes to play. Our friends in Memphis losing 10-6 to Ole Miss. Just took a big sack...

If Omar can match his numbers and win the MAC, don't be too quick to dismiss.

The day Omar had on the road put up against Williams' slow day at home, if in fact both have "no chance", I like Omar's no chance ahead of DeAngelo's at this point.Jacobs4Heisman wrote:Memphis throws a pick in the end zone with 10 seconds left to lose 10-6. Williams now has the same chance as Omar to win the heisman this year...as in none.

I'd like to think he had a chance to start with but my logical side tells me that even if he threw for 5000 yds and 50 tds and we went undefeated, he still wouldn't have won. Now he could throw for 6,000yds and 60 tds and still won't win. I think he has an excellent chance to make top 5. But I would bet my life he doesn't win the heisman. The award just isn't structured to allow it anymore.

6,000 yards, 60 TDs=no Heisman?
No offense, you're insane.

It would not be that hard to look up but I know Andre Ware and Ty Detmer won the Heisman playing for Houston and BYU. The award has changed though. Look at last year, the two teams playing in the national championship had four players finish in the top 5
And the fifth player was from undefeated Utah.

FWIW, the last five Heismans have gone to QBs and of the last 21, 12 have gone to QBs.
As for streaks, 12 straight Heismans went to RBs at one point (1972-1983).
