The very same reason my wife and I moved from S. Grove. The students are moving into new, posh, student aparments, the houses they leave behind are filling in behind them. The rental suck from that is starting to turn what were once strictly owner occupied homes into rentals. Those rentals are attracting the type of low-income types that give renters bad names. It amazed my wife and I how fast our block turned into the projects.BGSUfanatUT wrote:I miss Mr. Glick too. He was my neighbor for about 13 years. "Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

sorry FF......
I always thought about how I would choose a school to go to if I was being recruited/if I was good enough to play D1-A athletics... had I stuck with baseball, I may have had this option....my biggest regret in life thus far. Anyway, In my mind, I always enjoyed that thought of going to a smaller school (like a BG or Utah, Fresno, etc) that was on the upper end of "mid-majors". This being the fact that I would likely be more of a standout, and also bring a system up. For example, J5, Cole, JP, Keon, Chuck, OJ.... They came here, when they probably could have gone to bigger and "better" programs. But they knew here they would get more PT as well as be the playmakers. PLus, look where we are now compared to 5 years ago. A lot has to do with coaching change, but you cant do a 180 like we did without talent to go with it.
FF, do you think that mayeb this is a reason that we are startign to get some better recruits for the icers? That mayeb they are aware of our history and tradition, and want to be the ones that return it to that height? Thats what I would want to do. That would be more remembered than a national title i think even. your thoughts?

I know that selling our history and tradition is a HUGE part of the recruiting process. As is making them believe that THEY can help return BG to national prominance. Both are THOROUGHLY discussed when meeting with recruits. It all begins in the Alumni Lounge where recruits get to see where we showcase our storied past. Hats off to the coaching staff, as they are doing an INCREDIBLE job of convincing talented hockey players why they need to come here!BGSUfanatUT wrote:FF, do you think that mayeb this is a reason that we are startign to get some better recruits for the icers?
