Final thoughts leading up to Ball State

Post by 1987alum »

I'll likely be away from TV & the Web most of Saturday for a variety of reasons, so it will probably be quite late before I catch up on the day's scores.

We have all assumed that BG will steamroll Ball State. We all know what assume can mean.

IMO, a win is not enough. BG needs to make a statement here, in particular the defense.

It's important the defense come out with a great deal of intensity and lay the wood to Ball State - early and often. The defense needs to build some confidence by controlling this game; they also need to show the rest of our opponents that Wisconsin was an anamoly.

Ball State has to be reeling. They have a bunch of players serving suspensions and are coming off a beating. We had last year's game put away by halftime and must do the same this year. Don't give them any sense that they have a chance.

I'd love to see Anthony Turner and our freshmen running backs get the entire second half in mop-up duty.

I'm counting on Coach Brandon to have the guys laser-focused on a quick knockout.

Go Falcons!

I agree '87.....I think we need to execute like you said. I thought I read somewhere that Ball State will have the players back that were suspended, but none the less, we need to go out there and take care of business. It will be their home-opener, the weather should be great, probably will have a decent crowd, But we need to go out there and beat them in every phase of the game to get that bad taste out of our mouths from the Wisconsin loss. I'll see those of you that are going out there....hopefully this weekend will be more pleasing than last as that was a long trip back home.
GO BG!!!

There's a possibility, too, that some folks might be looking ahead to the Boise State game. That, of course, would be a huge mistake. In fact, the Boise State game is all the more reason for the defense to set the tone so that it has confidence before taking to the Smurf Turf.

I know this will sound dumb, but I almost wouldn't mind spotting them 14 points and only really turning the offense lose in the 2nd half. We all know we play really well in quarters one and two....just seems to me that it's quarter #3 we fall asleep in.

Do you REALLY want to take that chance?

Exactly. Quick kill is the best route. The more they hang around, the better they start feeling. That can get dangerous.

After hearing how good OU's D looked tonight (I was at a HS game), I wanna see our D get play well.

C ya'll there. I gotta get some sleep cuz it will be at least a 4 1/2 hour drive.

GO FALCONS!!!!

I'd like to score the first five time we have the ball and coast.
