Construction will begin before the end of the football season. Worst case scenario, ground breaking is done at the UT game. As of right now, it looks the same. Hopefully the knock down all those concrete blocks and at least make it look like a construction area.

SEBO CENTER
* Bids came in a little higher than expected. We went back to the architect and looked at what could we redesign or see what other materials we could use. It has gone back out to bid and they should be back within the next two weeks.
* Groundbreaking will be before the end of the football season
* Expected cost is $9 million. $5 million has been raised to date.

Let's do this...fire up the sprinklers and run them for a few days. Then call FEMA and tell them that a mysterious offshot of Katrina roared up the big muddy and smacked into Bowling Green. This caused the legendary "Poe Ditch Levee" to fail and the ensuing flood washed away the existing Sebo Center.

They're going to spend at least $10 million on lattes, DVD's and internet porn while they're finishing up in the South, why not spend it on us?

Got to hold on to all of the water we can right now so we can water down the field come November. After all, we don't want Toledo Tom and friends to be able to play football on dry football field. Our friends at TU would crucify us if we didn't water down the field for that game.

here's what i know

the bids did come in much higher than expected. that's delaying the start of construction until AFTER then football season from what i've heard.

the sebo's are not at all happy about the delays. in fact, they've threatened to pull their contribution if the project is not started soon.

if you're a junior or senior, don't expect to see the project completed before you graduate.

Is Sebo going to step down as a trustee too?

I've also heard he's throwing down his sippy cup and refuses naptime as well.

You obviously did not read my post from the discussion with Paul Krebs.

Not sure where you're getting your information, but I would not listen to that source anymore.

Well, at this point I don't know who or what to believe anymore. But until I actually see the project getting underway, I won't fully believe it until I see it. I really do hope it get started soon though.

Sebo Ctr.

Post by Class of 61 »

I do happen to know someone who's heavily involved in fundraising...when I posed the question re: the Sebo ctr. start, I was basically told, "when we have enough money to get it started". Evidently, the funds for this project haven't come in as anticipated....
