Heck with Haldi

Post by orangeandbrown »

The way I see it, NIU is a TB oriented team, with AJ Harris an excellent back, @ 4.4 yards per carry. If we can stop the run--either by good D or by having the lead--we can beat NIU. If they run on us, we're in deep trouble. Challenge day for our D line and LBs.

I remember reading Harris got injured late vs Iowa State last week. can anyone confirm this?

I think our D line, with Leininger back, and LB's will be able to contain the NIU ground game. Not necessarily stopping it cold, but containing it. Offensively? I don't see any problems. We're gonna see Omar do some things GB didn't want anyone to see in the first 2 games. Coach knows how huge this game is and will have these guys prepared. How much will Aaron Richardson's passing affect the team? I can say I'm glad BG had a bye last week...it was very difficult regardless.

BG has a great chance to get a big time quality MAC win on the road, and I see it happening. The Falcons are still a very hungry team. To heck with that "We had a great year...back to normal" stuff. I expect title contention every year. This staff and program expect nothing less.

I recall last year they had to depend on their TB, and having shut him down as we did, they tried to throw the ball. They weren't able to do that either. I think two years ago we were much more open to being beaten by an NIU team which had two weeks to prepare. Last year we were at home, and a notch better than Urban's last year. This year we lack Josh, but have two weeks to prepare a solid young QB, and may well be better overall beyond that. NIU is a solid team, but I think we have as good a chance as anybody o beat them. Too much is being made of our loss there. It was too long ago, and the circumstances this year are too different.

Beyond the game itself, with everybody yet to play everybody in the MAC, this game can not be labeled "the season." Not to discount winning before the game is played, or hint as fear of losing, but perspective can get lost in the hype.
