Texas HS player dies of lightning strike

Post by Metz »

A friend showed me tonight at work. This is both sad and bizarre.

The article doesn't say, but I'm wondering if they were out practicing in a storm or if a random bolt came down. Either way, it was something I'd never expect to hear about.

I read about this when it happened. I think they said the storm blew up out of nowhere and the lighting struck the practice field. If there had been signs of lighting, I am sure the team would not have been out there.

Yeah, when I read this story last week, the reporter stated that no lightning was seen prior to this lightning strike. In fact, I recall that the reporter went as far as to proclaim the skies were relatively clear. It sounded like a very "freaky" incident where the coaches were not to blame.
