To me they have not proven a thing yet. They have given up more than 500 yards in all three of their games, and giving up 500 yards to EMU is not pretty.
They haven't proven a thing to me, yet, either. I just said not to count them out. With the bottom tier of the MAC as weak as it is, they have some time to make some fixes. If they can get to the last game with a chance to take the West, they have a shot, and that could easily happen.

Nothing would make me happier than for us to clinch the West with a win over Marshall....

I agree that UT isn't out of anything yet, because they are clearly 1-0 in the MAC. That is all that matters for the MAC race. However, that doesn't change the fact that the MAC is terrible. A conference is judged by its OOC performance. It doesn't really matter what teams win the conference, its a guarantee that the overall record of all conference games is .500 regardless of who has the wins or losses. The fact that UT could go on to dominate the MAC does nothing to change the fact that the MAC sucks. In fact it would make it look even worse knowing that the conference was dominated by a team that gave up 126 points in 2 games.

UT is definitely not out of it. Nor is EMU, or any other team at this point. That doesn't make me feel any better about the quality of our conference :(

Seems like our league drops one of those games every year.

The MAC has six nonconference games left:

-- Eastern Illinois at Eastern Michigan
-- Temple at Toledo
-- Idaho at Eastern Michigan
-- Bowling Green at Temple
-- Ohio at Kentucky
-- Buffalo at Connecticut

It is difficult for me to imagnie Bowling Green losing at Temple... but this season would have been difficult to imagine, period.
Strange year.
It is sad that any MAC team has yet to defeat another I-A opponent. And given the list above, it looks to me like Temple is the only I-A that will lose to a MAC team. Not good times. :x

Kent State really sucks!

Post by Warthog »

From Wednesday's Blade:

With last weekends 29-21 loss to Rutgers, Kent State completed the non-conference portions of its 2004 schedule without beating a Div I-A opponent. the Golden Flashes don't have a win over a I-A team outside the MAC since 1987, when Kent won 31-17 at Kansas.

SEVENTEEN years without beating a I-A, non-conference opponent! That is incredible. Maybe they need to work on their scheduling! Arkansas St? Army? Baylor? Give them a call!

Same goes for you. The Big 12 hasn't exactly lit the world on fire this season.
