We sure didn't need this!
We sure didn't need this!
Well we're about an hour and a half away from absolute hell as we know it. It's bad enough, three years later we still have to hear about the national football championship that was one on a no call, now tOSU are about to get Greg Oden and Mike Conley from Lawrence North in Indianapolis for hoops. Thanks to David Stern, actually it was a good decision, Oden, the 2006 #1 overall LOCK will be attending tOSU with teammate and top 20 prospect PG Mike Conley. This will give the Bucks 4 players in the 20 for 2006 with David Lightly of Villa-Angela St. Joe's in Cleveland and DaeQuan Cook of Dayton Dunbar. A 5th recruit in the top 20 is on the verge of committing pending the Oden announcement.
Over at JJ and I'm sure Bucknuts, the tOSU faithful is as giddy as a 14 year old boy looking at his first Playboy. We definitely didn't need this news if you're living in Ohio and live around so many psuedo-tOSU fans.

Or in Indianapolis and work with a (while maybe not "pseudo") OSU fan who insists on reminding me of everything they do and bringing it up in small talk as if I care.OptionQB wrote:Over at JJ and I'm sure Bucknuts, the tOSU faithful is as giddy as a 14 year old boy looking at his first Playboy. Actually, its not so much that he does it, its that he says it so lazily like he doesn't care, when I'm sure the Playboy analogy is raging inside him. For example, over the past 3 weeks, I've heard enough "So I guess Greg Oden is going to Ohio State" comments in the same tone as "Yeah, I went to Wendy's for dinner tonight." to drive me up a wall. A big wall.

What I don't understand is with the real possibility that Ohio State may face some further NCAA sanctions due to violations in the basketball program, why would a kid like Oden go there to college? . This possible probabtion could conceivably impact the next couple of seasons. This kid Oden would seem to be a 1-year college player as it is. There was talk he would have been the number 1 pick in the NBA draft this year had they not changed the rules and forced high school seniors to sit out one year before becoming eligible. Why spend a year or two at a school that might be on probation the time you're there?
I know what you mean about Ohio State fans. The are insufferable enough about football, now it may be a year round torment to anyone who doesn't worship at the Buckeye shrine.

UK Peregrine, I am with you 100%. I literally do not care about Greg Oden/OSU. Good luck to them. Maybe a current player or two will leave with all these one year wonders etc. coming in when you add in the guaranteed sanctions.
On another far more important note (to me), I am hearing that BG basketball will add one more player for next year. I am hearing that a good player with later qualifying score (but fully eligible) is headed our way. I will try to track down more info. Or maybe others have heard this.
Go Falcons!

Ha, ha, ha, ha......ha, ha, ha, ha.......ha, ha, ha, ha! This thread has been moved to the other schools forum. Now all I have to do is travel back in time thirty years to steal Austin Powers' mojo and my master plan will be complete.TG1996 wrote:Nobody reads the other schools forum. I don't know why everyone is worried about osu's recruits. We all know that they will either:
a) flunk out
b) get into bar fights and thrown into jail
c) accept booster favors
d) try to buy drugs
e) steal something
f) all of the above
Then, be eligible for a career in the CBA or a crack house.

The NCAA went in and investigated the basketball program. It seems that OSU escaped any further sanctions.FALCON FLIER wrote:What I don't understand is with the real possibility that Ohio State may face some further NCAA sanctions due to violations in the basketball program, why would a kid like Oden go there to college? . Thad Matta is a hell of a coach and apparently a hell of a recruiter.
Things are about to change get used to that.
for crying out loud you really must have a lot of time on your hands if you feel the need to dig through the archives and defend the buckeyes from a thread that died two months ago.
