Bad Defense better for Omar?

Will our poor defense actually help Omar to achieve better numbers? Lets say its 28-0 at half time. Omar has 4 tds and 250 yards. Its more likely that Omar will come out of the game. But if it is 28-10 at the half....Omar stays in throws for two more scores and a hundred more yards.

I read what you are saying, I believe winning games helps Omar the most.

This season is more about the MAC and Bowling Green State University than it is about Omar. I bet he would agree with me in this statement.

I think so...the MAC Trophy is the prize...

I'd rather see Turner in the game in the 3rd or 4th quarter...that way we're on our way to a win.

That statement is all well and good and true.

But Statistically a bad defense means we throw more which leads to more stats

If you're looking at it from an Omar-centric perspective, I think you're right, G-fitch. If we had a shut-down defense, Omar could be on the bench by halftime with "decent" stats, instead of slinging it late into a game against Balls Tate.

Yes he'll have bigger stats, but he'd have pretty good stats anyway. He'd be better off with really good stats and winning a lot, than he will be with amazing stats if we cannot run the table from here on out.

The only way that Omar sniffs the heisman is if we go undefeated from here on out, and I don't care if he throws for 9,000 yards and 200 TDs.

Not necessarily. If we are in the lead by 18 points, there's no reason to throw as long as the ground game is working (therein lies the caveat). If the ground game is not working, then one needs to have more throws just to keep the chains moving. The yards won't be as much of a stat because you are just dumping the ball with high percentage pass plays (short gainers).
I still don't see how this is really all that important of a subject to discuss. Keep the eye on the prize, baby. MACC.

Whenever I hear or See Omar mentioned what follows shortly is his TDs and yards and how much he is leading in both categories. Had we routed Ball State he would not have the same numbers.

hammb: I guess I was making the assumption that we win out. With that as a base assumption, doing something like breaking Klinger's TD record would help solidify an invite to NYC.

Lets try to go into five overtimes every week too so Omar can throw five more TD passes each week.

I don't think anyone's suggesting that we go out of our way to play bad defense or keep games close. I'd wager that even Omar would rather have the Falcons ahead 49-0 at halftime so he could what Turner from the sidelines.
