I think in a weird sort of way, its a compliment. Noting our sucess in the past few years with the spread offense, and Utahs last year, people expected Florida to pick it up like nothing flat, since they are of course a BCS school, and Utah and BG aren't. But surprise surprise, BCS schools aren't perfect, and may have more work ahead of them than they thought. Its' almost as if they are measuring the sucess of the spread offense based upon our sucessful use of it.

FL won, they will continue to win, and I am sure The O will put up better numbers in the future.
All that matters is they drove 80 yards and put a td on the board...they had anohter two great drives as well that are not mentioned that did not result in points, but they moved the ball very well...i think FL learned that if they realy want to be successfull with the Spread...Leak will need to play it like Harris not, Smith, or Jacobs...leak can run, runs real well, and is valid threat.
ESPn FOS as ordered.

Since the point of moving the ball is to score, I am not impressed with drives that don't close the deal. I know one can argue that ball control helps win games, however last night was not a game where that happened. One timely turnover or stop and UT could have been back in the game. FL was within 1 td of losing that game, for most of it.MACMAN wrote:FL won, they will continue to win, and I am sure The O will put up better numbers in the future.

The question I am curious to learn an answer to is whether UF's spread is looking unimpressive because of Leak as qb or because of SEC defenses. I guess we will find out next week when UF comes to lexington (Wish I could go to that game, stupid wedding in stupid 12hr away town in NC) From what I have read UM was not real pleased/impressed with Leaks perfomances in the first 2 games. I haven't been sold on Leak, so I am leaning to believe it is him. But like I said, we'll after SEC play wraps up.

Whatever it is, it's a dumb aside. "Bowling Green and... Utah, wherever either one of those places is..."BGSU Falconz wrote:That is not a compliment.wherever either one of those places is
Hmm, I wonder... could Utah possibly be in.... Utah?!?!? And as for where that is... did we not learn this in fourth-grade geography?
I get what he's saying, and no, it isn't a compliment, but the wording of it just sounds ignorant...

Excellent Point, O & B. Our special teams have steadily gone south since Meyer left.orangeandbrown wrote:Hey, didn't they win the game? Thought so. What was the biggest factor. Blocked kicks? Hmm. How many kicks have we blocked since UM left?

Whats funny about this article is that he seems to be trying to downplay florida's win because they didn't dominate Tennesee with the spread offense. Last time I checked, Tennesee was a pretty good team. And also last time I checked a win is a win anyway you look at it and florida is still in the hunt for a NC.
To me, the spread offense is used to create mismatches on the field. Just because you run the spread doesn't mean that you are going to put 70 up on everyone. But it puts your athletes in a position to make plays.

BG's offense was average until they hit their stride in the 2001 Northwestern game, the second to last game of the season. If anything, Florida is ahead of schedule. These doubters look silly with the "gimmiky" offense 3-0 and will look sillier when they have it clicking on all cylinders and expose the plodding, predictable schemes of their counterparts.

Florida was great on defense and special teams in that UT game. Man, I wish those days when we could actually kick the ball deep on kickoffs without the fear that they will run it back all the way, and blocking kicks and punts. I am glad that special teams aren't important, not like they didn't turn the tide in the Wisky game or anything.

Unfortunately he is just reflecting the arrogant attitude of SEC fans as I am coming to find out. They honestly and truly believe that real football does not exist outside of their own conference, and don't even consider some members of their own conference to be legitimate programs. They are an arrogant bunch the likes of which the Big 11 can only hope to aspire to (although they do their damndest).kdog27 wrote:Where is this Utah he speaks of? What state is it in? Never heard of it. Where were the 2002 Olympics? What a moron.
I have never been exposed to SEC fans until recently and I have to admit that I am completely dumbfounded by their attitude. I realize that this is all a bunch of generalizations, but as soon as I read that line in this article I knew exactly the kind of moronic attitude to which he was writing (and probably writing from).
There is no substitute for southern ignorance.
