NIU pregame
OK, I didn't get any straight answers when I snuck in my questions in the other threads, so I made a new one. Is anyone else going to be at the NIU game this friday early? Say between 1-3pm and on? I think I'll be driving straight from Cinci now, which will allow me to get there early and tailgate some before the game. Anyone that will be there and wants to get psyched up with me would be smooth.

I will be at the stadium, or around the area around noon or so. Not sure what time they will let me into the parking lot. I will have a black 2004 Durango with several BG flags out as well. I am fixing brauts, pork chops, hotdogs and burgers. All fans welcome to stop over. I will have lots of beer too. However, I spent about 250.00 on food so if a few would like to chip in a few dollars here and there I would appreciate it, but you dont have too. By the way, did you get my directions on taking I-74 all the way to I-39, then I-39 to I-88, then go back East 15 miles. I think that would eliminate all raod construction. See everyone Friday.

just so you know
NIU changed around their tailgating this year (a screwy situation). I dont know that you will be able to tailgate next to the stadium. The East side you need to be in one of the Huskie clubs to get a pass to tailgate there. Im not positive on the West side but think you need to be in one of the Huskie clubs also. The other main options are the Convocation Center lot, Chick Evans lot or one of the gravel lots. Your best bet would probably be the Convo lot (the Chick Evans lot will be crowded with students at class)
For all of these lots you can get into them at any time but I dont know how things are going to work on Friday because all 3 of those lots are supposed to be patrolled by campus parking service until 7 and i dont know when they are going to make the transition to officially allow tailgating. I dont have all the tailgating answers but I would recommend going over to the NIU board and asking them if you still have any questions or concerns about it.

what is the NIU board site? also, if you could keep us informed on anythign you hear on the topic please post it. I dont want to drive all that way and then sit in my car for 5 hours.....And I dont know if takign my chances with the locals tailgating would be beneficial to my health.

If you really want to be tailgating by yourself or only with a few others around, go to the gravel lot, which is right off Annie Glidden Rd, just stay on it past Lucinda Ave (chick evans on corner) and go roughly a block and it will be on your left. I parked out there for the SIU game and there was nobody tailgating out there. If you want more gameday atmosphere go to the Convo.
I am 99.9% sure that you will be able to get into the gravel and convo lot at any time. I think tailgating is supposed to start 3 hours before kickoff. Campus parking might try and give you a ticket, if they do you can get it down for $5 visitors fee, which i also believe is what they charge to park in the lots for football games.

I will be there around noon with brauts, dogs, hamburgers and pork chops if anyone wants to drop by. Lots of beer, snacks, bg cupcakes (orange and black - sorry) and like i said, lots of beer. Anyone is welcome as long as you are polite as I will have a couple 10yr olds with me.

So who else will I see there. Black Durango, with several BG flags. Look for me in the Convo parking lot.

Convo center is located west of the stadium. Not too far away from the stadium. Be like parking on Mercer St. at BG. Here is a link of a map.
