""Yeah Austin and Wenzel leaving kind of hurts, but the other girls now have a year of experience in the league and I don't think there is anything to worry about. If anything has changed from last year, the team probably got better!""

You are very optimistic. I hope you are right. I guess I am optimistic too. I did say they would be MAC champs. However, I think saying Austin and Wenzel leaving kind of hurts is a huge huge understatement. They were leaders--every team needs em. I don't see the upper classmen as leaders, like they were..maybe Casey, maybe Sakima, I dont know. It is also a huge dropoff when you go from Lindsay Austin to Julie Gompers or Kate Achter in the point guard position. 4 year starter, defensive player of the year, cataylst is hard to replace, especially if you are replacing her from scratch. Face it, when she wasn't out there last year, the team was a .500 team at best.
On that note, GO LADY FALCONS! :D

don't forget, tene lewis is still here. she's a senior. she's a leader. she's a fine point guard who had the poor fortune to not have much PT because she was behind lindsay.

I can't believe I failed to mention her!! Tene is a strong possibility for the starting role as well I'm sure. The only thing I see with Tene is that she's more of a scoring PG. She could easily come in as SG depending on who else is on the court at the time IMO.

How many freshmen did they have starting or coming in for serious minutes last year? Watching the news in passing, I seem to recall this is a team that is very young but playing beyond their years.

There were 4 freshmen that had serious playing time last year. Ali Mann, Liz Honegger, Carin Horne, and Megan Thorburn. While young, they did play beyond their years like you said. I have seen one of the new recruits (Kate) play before and she could easily be another freshmen to over-achieve.
