From this point looking forward

Post by JimmyZ11381 »

We can all sit here for days and dwell on what just happened last night, and we probably will, but that bothers me. Have we played up to our potential? Absolutely not. Do we need improvements and changes? Absolutely. But let me say this...I appreciate where our football program is today. My freshman year of college I sat through a miserable 2-9 season where we stuggled to score from the 1 yd line. Everyone here knows that we can still move on from this loss and win another bowl game this year. Maybe we need a new coach, maybe we need to recruit better defensive players..I don't know what the exact answer is. We had a rough start to this year, but we've played competition unlike those losers up north. I appreciate that we will play anybody anywhere anytime. And we may take some losses because of it. We will not win everygame every year. But lets cut the crap and support this team as they enter the MAC season.

If there's one thing I've learned from meeting the posters on this board, we will all support this team no matter what. A good portion of us were fans during the Blackney years, and if we were fans then, nothing will get rid of us. We like to vent at times like this, no doubt, but I assure you that all of us will be out their tailgating on October 1st, and heading into the Doyt to support this team.

Hell I attended BG games, sometimes seemingly by myself through all of the bad Blackney years. I was lucky enough to do my undergraduate years (95-99) with teams that went 5-6, 4-7, 3-8, 5-6. I was even blessed enough to return to BG for graduate school in 2000 for that enjoyable 2-9 season, before Urban took over. It's all about perspective, and some of you don't appear to have one's grounded by the late Blackney years. Be a little appreciative where Urban and Gregg have taken this program. It's fine to want a little more, but remember it wasn't that long ago that Temple and Buffalo were beating us. All is not lost in losing to very highly respected programs, BG football is going to be alright. Try to enjoy the ride a little and remember where this BG roller coaster came.[/i]

Unless you suffered thru the Moe Ankney days, like me, you ain't seen nothing!
At least Gary Blackney won a couple titles and bowl games...it didn't end the way he wanted but he still had a lot of success the first 4 years.

The sun came out today....it ain't the end of the world. I try to remember the Katrina victims and the potential problems for people in Rita's path and put it all in perspective. We lost a game last night and badly. It was just one game....I know we have lots to fix so let's get to work and win the MAC!

Only 9 days and we FINALLY get a home game at the Doyt!!!

GO FALCONS!!

me too, i couldnt believe that we went 2-9, and it was JOHN GIBSON who couldnt score from the 1 yard line. It was also the offensive line that didnt do its job. i just remember sitting in the stands watching our team struggle to score from the 1 yard and thinking, our football team is a joke, but then urban meyer came and it was all good. anyways, lets get over this bad boise game and move on because we have major work to do in the mac.

go falcons

As was I.

Back then, we would have given the keys to the kingdom to be on ESPN.

Schade, RUIT: No doubt.

From the moment Stolz stuck a dagger into the heart of the program, BG football began a freefall into depths that folks who weren't there can't comprehend.

Freak - indeed, today is another day, Oct. 1 is another game. I'm still stoked for our Oct. 8 road trip.

Shouldn't a post about a point forward go into the Hoops forum. We loved you Anthony Stacey!
