Student Section?

Post by FalconFanKM »

In one of my classes there are members of the band. And they said that since they can't sit where they used to, that they have to sit where the student section sits. I think that this could be good for the student section because it will make us get real noisy for the opposing team. But this might also interfere with attendance...

Word is that we'll sit where we USED to sit, before this past season, which is NEXT TO the student section. And I don't see how it would affect attendance at all...

Sadly, most of the students just ignore the band, so it doesn't really get anyone "jacked up". And I'm with Saxy, I don't see how it would affect attendance at all, especially since the band sat there for fourish years before moving to the North endzone.

This will be great for my chances of snagging extra points. I believe I'm the career leader with about a dozen. Although I think there are a few eight year olds in the high single digits. And does it count if it goes under the bleachers?

I think this is a good thing. It will put the band right down in the mix with all the students! It will get me pumped up!!! Can hardly wait to sing Ay-Ziggy-Zoomba at the top of my lungs! Go BG

Actually, the seats next to the band are going to be changing soon, too. With the creation of the new student section, students in the group will have priority seating.

What's the general feeling on campus for this new student group? Is anybody joining or talking about joining? It seems like a good idea, but I'm not sure how many students would want to pay $15 to only get a t-shirt, essentially.

No one knows about it and no one will probably sign up for it.

That's the feeling I got from those i've talked to.

A mass mailing!!! Because that is the best use of the athletic department's money right now. All we need is another student group thinking they have all of God's authority to sit where ever they want when they get to a game 5 minutes after it starts because they couldn't drain the keg fast enough. This new student group is a waste of time and resources. We should be interested in getting all BGSU students out to games, not just the ones who want to pay $15.00. Students should be at the games because they want to be there, not because they paid money to be there! Create the interest by more coach visibility on campus and at student organization events. Have Greg Brandon walk up and sit down at a crowded table at the union and talk to the students about the games. And that goes with all of our coaches. Make the students feel like they are needed. If the department can do that, they will have more students than they know what to do with.

The question is how many students are going to actually listen to the kids when they say they get priority seating?

I heard that they were putting them back up Friday night because the Sebo Center will never be built and will cost the athletic department $4 million to put back up, but they can't put them back up because they don't have enough money.

If you aim your approach at the Freshmen then maybe they take off with the idea. That leads to the other incoming classes wanting to be a part of the group, then this leads to all classes being a part of the group and it being a great money maker for the Athletic Department. I've talked to a lot of freshmen trying to recruit them for this cause and a lot of them sound interested. This student fan club will be a long process, it wont happen in one year more likely 2 to 3 years. I think it's a great idea by the Marketing Department and hope it is successful.
