Falcons in the pros.....

Post by NWLB »

Who among the Falcons that signed with the NFL this year, have made the team, or practice squads? Do we have anybody up in the CFL or WFL? How many are drawing a check from the AFL?

As far as I can tell, Khary Campbell is the only one on an NFL active roster, Josh is still on the Rat Birds practice squad, and I think Pat Fleming is in the CFL somewhere and Robert Redd was on an AFL team in Colorado for awhile. Other than that, I can't think of any others, but I'm sure there are one or two (if you want to count Derek Schorejs' stint in NFL Europe, too!)

I can't think of anyone else that TG hasn't mentioned. You know though, I really wish BG would keep better track of alumni playing any professional sport. A lot of college sites post where former players are currently playing.

In terms of this years draft, and I know its way to early to think about, but nonetheless, here's the first thing I've seen scouting Cole as a potential NFL receiver.

Yeah, and I hear that Cole M-A-G-N-E-R is a hell of a prospect, too.

Damn media.

I still remember wondering how the NFL found Charlie Williams when he was drafted in the third around. Fella got a superbowl ring with the Cowboys as I recall. What is he up to these days? I think its safe to say he isn't in football, but what did he go on to do?

I thought we had looked that up a few weeks ago, but I don't remember if we found anything. Would he have gotten a ring with the Cowboys, or would their run have been over by then? I'm pretty sure I've mentioned this before here, but I interviewed him the morning after he got drafted, hanging out at his apartment waiting for the photographer to get there, it was great listening to all the smack his roommates were giving him (including former Falcon George Johnson). That time and a couple other times I ran across him, Charlie was always a great guy. I hope he's found something successful after his NFL days were over.
